Yeah very good news,i cant believe he answered that,i was expecting a "you will have to see" but nope,when he said that i was very happy indeed lol
 
i think it will shatter everyones expectations, even ppl with high expectations :D
 
Cool. I only care for the score itself, not really for the review itself.
 
Why are people surprised that the game is good? The binks alone are more fun to watch than the average game is to play.
 
the way i think of it is,for half life 2 we all had huge expectations anyway,because i mean its half life 2 for christ sake,now if it is even more than they expected imagine how good that is?

not surprised, but with all this time passing by we needed some sort of consolation... sniff ;(

thats news to me.

i do however think that wow/luster factor about HL2 is gone regardless of how impressive it will be once released...i we have seen so much of the game through screen shots and binks that.. the wow/luster factor.. i think will be harder to attain.
 
it will be good, great in fact, but no game is so fantastic that it can cure cancer and give you a blowjob.
games i play these days seem wafer thin. prince of persia, beyond good and evil, etc. they were great but felt like they were missing something, or a lot. its hard to explain. i think ive just played too many games.

We haven't seen as much compared to what we'd see of most games, and yes, this is very good news :)
 
yea, so.. when is the magazine coming out officially... :D thats what i want to know and is anyone on here subscribed to the mag?
 
oct 5th^ and yes i have just subscribed.so shall get it around oct 1st-3rd

i am not questioning whether the game will be good...that is without a doubt, a resounding YES!!! :dork:

i just think it would be the same as releasing the game on September 30, 2003 when there was this awe-ness to it.. jaw-dropping etc.. with these delays i feel the game has lost that a bit.

btw, around here pple are wondering about whats up with u and Valve after the whole move=chris_d thing :p
time to lay low buddy :LOL:

Meanwhile, On-Topic... This is nice reassurance that the wait hasn't been in vain. It would've been funny (and by funny I mean horrendously disappointing) if it had been rubbish after all this polava. Although, if all the reviews come out around the start of October and, as many retailers seem to believe, the game's released on 1st November, that could prove to be a long month.

I think we all will be impressed with the game, it's gonna blow us away.. as previously stated by Chris_D, we haven't seen much of this game & I dont think we will be waiting till Novembe to play it either.. but heay, thats just wishful thinking on my part! hehe

If you just subscribed won't it take about 4 weeks to get you first issue like it does for most Mags?
 
I knew this game would be good, but there was always this nagging thought at the back of my saying that HL2 might end up not being so good.

Its nice to have a weapon to slap that thought around with.

I read a post somewhere from a person who supposedly knows the score given in PC gamer UK, he says 89% but I think it is bullshit, especially if this post is true and someone from the mag says it is more then they expected

now THAT is the kind of thing that should be put up on the halflife2.net news, instead of those interviews that just cause people to guess and create rumours.

hl2 HAS TO BE close, especially if hl2 is to be in PC GAMER's next mag...1st october.

Ok, here are my thoughts after jumping through and off the roof

What would you say about 1 of your own products if someone asked?
Offcourse they say it's good (and even better), because they want to sell magz.

All keep your expectations low like KagePrototype says, and you won't be dissappointed when the game sux, there is nothing worse in the world then Game Developers letting you down (after you spend your money).

Besides that; IT'S GREAT NEWS, WE SHOULD POST IT EVERYWHERE. YAHOOOOO.
 
so are any american magazines reviewing HL2 soon and when are they gonna be released?

i've watched the binks many times, and they never lose their luster....

we have not seem more than like 2-3 stages of the game, maybe only 2...(coast, city 17, i know about kleiner's lab, but i assume that it's somewhere in there..but i won't know until i get to play, huh?)

and if the game plays as well as the CS:S beta.....we are in for a treat.
Hard to maintain excitement for so long tho.

European magazines will sometimes review a "nearly finished" build of the game.

This is just me (who has no credibilty) having a guess but most magazines in europe also do not review games until they reach gold status. Remember three games where sent to vivendi, hl2, cs:s and hl:s. Someone said that it takes 72 hours to test one game so all 3 would take nine days (ends today or tommorrow depending how you look at it). Now if hl2 was the first to be tested then it would've been ready on monday. So the review copies get sent and now a few days later we're getting all this news of reviews and stuff. Hopefully on monday or later today we'll get our gold announcement.

Obviously they could've said hl2 was gold once that seperate game has been done but seen as all three seem to be coming out as a "package" they've held off.

Don't take any of this as fact it's just me making idle thoughts.
