starting Thursday, you'll be able to download a demo for their upcoming Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. It'll be one level - a Tie Fighter construction facility - and will involve some kind of Jedi general and a whole big, Corellian ship's load of fighting. It'll be released on both 360 and PS3 on the same day, so no need for complaining on that account.

Point one: YAY! I've been waiting for a demo of this for some time. I'm not sure whether it'll be any good, but YAY all the same.

Point two: MY ****ING XBOX IS STILL JIGGERED ;(

Yeah, I can't complain with my PS3 and 360 eagerly anticipating this release. This should go a long way toward whether all of this hype has been at all worth it. Somehow I feel like it won't be since Lucas has a really strong knack for letting fans down lately. :x
 
Well the recent gameplay videos haven't looked all that good but we'll see how it turns out..

Who needs Force Unleashed when we have Dark Force saga on PC, heh?
 
I don't see this game being good at all.

It practically screams tech demo.

From the gameplay videos this is a third person shooter. Which is obviously unheard of on a PC.:dozey:

Face it, there is no logical reason they are not realising it for the PC just because they don't want to... whatever.

But of course. I will be at work all day so likely some of these other jokers will be poo-pooing it (or not, as the case may be) earlier. I may actually bring my PSP to work to at least get it downloaded and such before I get home. Remote Play is a blessing. :D

it costs money to develop games ..obviously it's not worth the investment if they dont think they'll get a return on their invest ....this has nothing to do with "not wanting to" ..that's rarely a concern for most businesses

Well any comparison to Dark Forces 2 is completely and utterly redundant. :p

Tech demo? Probably. If you did like the JK games then I think it's full gone that this is a Star Wars game that will appeal to you, but comparing it to an already great series is killing it already.

I just watched a bunch of gameplay trailers and it looks really slow. Each enemy takes four or five hits to kill, and he had to run around for thirty seconds in between each one.

I'm sorry, but until I get a KotOR III, and not some half-assed MMO, or attempt sexing-up the universe, I am boycotting all Star Wars games in the future. All these attempts at making the universe sexy, for money, just make Lucasarts like a low-down dirty pimp. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it Lucasarts! I may only be one customer... And my ?40 may not affect your company on a large scale, or any at all actually, but I still have my principles. So there!

(P.S- I shall see how the reviews turn out. ;) )

(P.P.S- Then I shall spit on this game for destroying hopes of any KotOR in 2007/8! :D )
 
Watching the gameplay blowout on Gametrailers, I was struck by how stiff and stupid the AI seemed in combat. Whenever the Apprentice got close to a Stormtrooper, the enemy would either awkwardly pivot, turn his back, or just freeze. With the release date right around the corner, I don't have much hope that it'll be fixed.

That said, I'm still totally buying this game on blind faith. Parts of it will be fun, I'm sure.

I believe Lucasarts have decided that there will be only one major release per year related to Star Wars. I read it somewhere anyway, can't remember where. Sorry. :(
 
Haven't been too interested in this, but I'll definitely try the demo. We'll see.

Just a release, doesn't mean KoToR3 isn't being worked on, just can't be released this year
 
This is like the 1st Star Wars game that i have wanted to buy. It just looks fun to play.
 
I'm quite the opposite of what you think Asuka, I think it looks completely shit and looks like there's a ton of more fun star wars games, i.e. LEGO Star Wars, Jedi Knight/Dark Forces series, X-Wing, TIE Fighter and more.
 
So the fact that there have been fun Star Wars games in the past means this one isn't going to be fun? Or are you saying that people shouldn't try a new game because there are fun old games instead? Strange logic. This game, I suppose, could be the worst game in history but it would have little to do with the fact that other Star Wars games before it were fun.

I admit I don't think it looks that great, but that's what free demos are for. Making an opinion based on fact instead of assumptions.

None of those games are even remotely interesting to me. Im not really a fan of the Star Wars world and because this game looks and feels so different is why im interested.

No I'm not why are you putting words into my mouth? He said none of the previous games interested him and I pointed out that IMO there are alot of old interesting Star Wars games, that's all there is to it.

I am also forming an opinion about this game on 'facts', called previews and the even more undisputable GAMEPLAY DEMONSTRATIONS(videos).

I will ofcourse try the demo but I don't have high hopes.
 
Honestly, anyone who thinks this is anything more than a glorified tech demo is kidding themselves.

I admit that the game looks like it will be immensely fun to play with the physics and everything but as far as a canon Star Wars game goes... it'll probably be shit on for its story.

I didn't mean to put words in your mouth. I misunderstood your point and didn't have Asuka's post fresh in my mind. I guess I don't consider previews and gamplay vids as facts when I can play something myself, but it's a moot point.
 
Better hope the gameplay's abso-fucking-lutely phenomenal because the story for this game is so rage-inducing that if you hooked me up to a rage-powered generator I could fuel all of the western hemisphere for 200 years.

Starkiller's the biggest Mary Sue ever in the history of Mary Sues and it pisses me off to no end. You seriously have no idea how bad the story is. Complete shit. Any anticipation I had for this game, all the fun I had playing him in SCIV, right out the window with his bullshit. I'm talking fanfiction-level bad. Gameplay can't save this one, folks.
 
it's a video game did you expect To Kill a Mockingbird or War and Peace?

but out of curiosity what storyline travesty did they inflict on the star wars universe? Leia discovering she has feelings for Chewbacca? c3po coming out of the closet? jedis having jesus like qualities and gnarly super powers?
 
The graphics are amazing the gameplay is fun but really unoriginal. It'll get boring after a while it's like playing with the super gravity gun, you can only use the force on oh so much. But the ragdolling is fun to play with when you pick people up and what we've seen in previous previews hold up inthe demo. Except for one thing, when I use the force to put enemies next to ledges and stuff they seem to not try to grab hold of anything, I might be doing something wrong though.
 
I played the demo and I didn't like it really. If any of you are bothereed my thoughts are in the rate the last game you played topic
