Forsake The Troops

Still, most people who consider themselves liberal or conservative will grow up to be liberal or conservative, it is just how things work.

but it's a false assumption ...liberals are NOT democrats (sure they may vote for them, they may share some of the ideals) but they are not liberal

in the US there is 2 political affiliations: democrats and republicans ...which most people believe is right wing and left wing but it's just not accurate

it should be right wing and centrist ...for all intents and purposes there is NO liberal voice in america ...at least not in mainstream politics

Quite interesting someone knows how the people of the US think and what group there are and aren't. All from Canada, he even knows how our school children think! OHNOES HE MUST BE AN ALIEN!

ummm I do live an hour from the border, watch pbs, cbs, abc, nbc, cnn, etc etc etc ..have cousins in the US and have traveled there extensively ..I also have have been following politics for 20 years ...longer than some of you have been alive ...so ya I think I'm qualified to comment on american politics ...tell me ..how much do you know about canada ..quick who's our president? dont look now

So from now on whenever I say liberal, I mean American liberal.

I don't care to know anything about Canada, I only care about the country I live in. Unlike some people I don't rather care whats going on in other parts of the world, unless it has some kind of impact on me.

that's rather short-sighted of you ...but if you admit that you only care what affects you personally then why bother even responding in this thread ....cuz it doesnt affect you directly now does it?

Does any threads on any forums affect anyone? Most likely not.

ye, yes they do, but we're taking about you, lets not steer it towards me

well, as much as I disagree with this "forsake the troops" nut, I am reminded of a Voltaire quote:
I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend, to the death, your right to say it.
. I think that summarizes freedom of speech.

And I think, Stern, one can make a distinction between personal dislike ("i wouldn't mind if he got his ass kicked") and freedom of expression. Sure, he has the right to say it, but many people strongly disagree with it. It is wrong to inflict violence upon any person. These other forumers are not arguing it is legal, that it is a moral right to kill this guy. They just don't like him. If he was harmed, it would be wrong.

This has nothing to do with right-wing/left-wing. You may be liberal, but you can still disagree with this guy. Supporting your troops isn't a right-wing ideology.

Oh, And Saddam killed thousands of people. He broke natural law. He deserves to be punished. The only similarity between this nut and Saddam may be people's OPINION of them.
