Fortress Forever has established itself as one of the premiere Dev teams out there. The media tonight is as impressive as previous ones and should help excite us all once again! [br]
Among the pictures below, you will see the models of the sniper, grenade/pipe launcher, and a Hummer. In addition, the first shot of Kermit's version of Rock2 is up and a new shot of Hunted as well. [br]
Lastly, a new big ol' desktop wallpaper has been made and is available on their website in high resolution.[br]
Enjoy them! [br][br]To visit their website, simply click this link.[br]
Or to comment on the mod and join their community, visit their forums.

Looking great, keep up the good work! Can't wait to see more FF stuff.

This will be the highest-quality mod for Half-Life 2. Geniuses, I tell you.

that looks cool, i like the gun the most.

Good stuff BUT the polycounts seem to be absurd, for example the grenade launcher seems to have a lot more polygons than needed while the Hummer is so lowpoly that it makes me twinch.

Hah, well, that hunted shot is pretty old, so there's nothing new 'bout that.

Para, I don't remember how many polys the Hummer has, but it's somewhat low. There's no reason for it to have a great level of detail as it will just be a static prop.

Gotta have a little faith that we know what we're doin'.

Polycount is dependant entirely on how up close the object will be viewed. Of course if the Hummer is only a prop that can be seen from a fair distance then the poly count is OK but if it's going to be like parked on a street and player can walk by it then it's way too low.

And of course the extra polies can be overdone for the same reason I just said just like what seem to have happened with the grenade launcher. Too many polies is easier to fix though than too many so I'm not concerned about that.

Polies mean nothing if you've got a good lighting map >:]

Haven't we already seen that pic from Hunted?

Getting better and better, love their maps.

I agree; I don't think that hunted shot is a new one. Probably just an oversight.

The other pictures all should be new, though :farmer:

Out of all the mods of half life 2... This has to be my most anticipated realease ever... I can't wait until they finish it up.

Grenade Launcher is 3500 Polys, Hummer is 5000 Polys :p

Then I demand to see wires because judging from the visual quality the gl has way too many polies (like I already said) and the Hummer seems to be wasting a lot of polies to some place where they aren't needed. If you doubt my words, I think I should say that as a modeler I specialize in lowpoly optimization.

3000 poloys for a weapon seems a bit high to me. Just keep in mind that the player will only see the top left/right of the weapon. That should be the highest detailed and the largest concentration of polys. The hummer does not look like 5000 polys.

doh I didn't see that pic of hunted last time so I posted it  Well I'm sure not everyone has seen it!

You're not really in a position to "demand" anything. I don't see any reason for them to lie about their polycounts, do you?

The models aren't finished in those shots, and we have plenty of people that know how to optimise models. Media shots aren't perfect representations of what the final model will look like or the final triangle count, as obviously the hidden faces will be removed and so forth.

I'm not saying they're lying, I'm only saying it seems like they're using polygons inefficiently.
