Forza2 and CMR Dirt Screenshots ... is niiice ...

No, but if CMR Dirt is made by the same devs as the previous versions the cars will be about as refined as slipping on a soggy banana.

No console game thesedays would dare to go for realistic physics because it'll simply be too hard for the casual kids and be unplayable on anything other than a decent wheel and pedals setup.
Simbin are putting out a 360 version of GTR, I think. Wouldn't be surprised if they had to dumb it down but hopefully they won't and the console racers will find out what a decent sim is. Forum thread on the topic.

edit: found the trailer for it on youtube

God, why don't they put in realistic damage modeling already. I've never seen a car crumple realistically, and I think its time with this whole "next generation" of games. For any of you who saw this XNA demo a while back, you would know what I'm talking about.

Car manufactures do not want their cars showing damage as it might reflect the car's real susceptibility to damage. Which is 100% bullshit.

omfg, that is a load of shit. I guess it is better to represent that you can crash their cars at 250 mph without sustaining any damage what so ever. They wouldn't want to show that you will ****ing die if you crash going that fast.

meh most of the time all of the trailers are renders so it takes away from the real game. Perfect example is motorstorm, the game looks nothing like the videos.

Yeah, Turn10 have confirmed it, as have Microsoft. I just hope it's like the actual game will be. Do you guys remember the demo for the original Forza motorsport on the Xbox? It was nothing like the actual game. The demo was pretty crappy, but the game was (and is) an absolute legend.

Demo Information said:
The Forza 2 Marketplace Demo is Coming!

And thanks to a full-page ad in a recent issue of Official Xbox Magazine, you already knew that. Although the real question keeping a lot of you up late nights is when when when, and in that respect, I regretfully do not know. We're currently cranking to finish both the final game and the demo (well, the two are somewhat related, no?) simultaneously, which means both versions are being tested and bug fixed with the same Turn 10 fervor. So the good news is that the demo is basically finished when the game is finished. Of course, this trial version will also need to be submitted for certification; but being a downloadable demo on Xbox Live Marketplace means there's no huge delay in waiting for the game to get pressed, packaged, and shipped onto shelves.

But equal amounts of you have also been asking for details on what exactly the demo will feature -- which car(s), which class(es), which track(s), multiplayer? To answer some of those questions, I will reveal to you what I can about the FM2 demo that you're all going to be downloading and playing until the game comes out. So here we go. The Forza 2 demo will indeed feature a handful of our favorite cars in the game, separated into three different classes (C, A and R2) to give you a taste of the automotive flavors across the spectrum of the roster. Although I'm not going to reveal the R2 cars right now (remember, we conclude our car list next week with the full list of our Race class cars), here are all the cars you can play around with in the other two classes:

1997 BMW Motorsport M3 E36
2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06
2003 Dodge Viper SRT10
2003 Dodge SRT4
2004 Ferrari F430
2005 Ford Ford GT
2005 Ford Mustang GT
2002 Honda Integra Type-R
2005 Lamborghini Gallardo
2006 Lexus IS350
2004 Mazda RX-8 Mazdaspeed
2005 Mercedes SLR
2003 Nissan Fairlady Z
2007 Porsche 911 Turbo (997)
2005 Subaru Legacy B4 2.0 GT
2005 TVR Sagaris

These 16 cars A and C class cars will be completed by 8 more Race class beasts for a full list of 24 demo vehicles. Although you'll be able to cycle between the different manufacturer colors for these cars (obviously, not the R2 cars), we're holding back on all of the sweet customization stuff for the final game. Besides, there's no point in decking out your ride and then not being able to save the design or upgrades after you exit the demo. The races themselves will be exhibition style (i.e., against 7 other A.I. driven cars) on one of our new tracks. What about the other functions of the game?

Although there was discussion about including our innovative Xbox Live features in the demo, we wanted this playtest to focus on core gameplay elements -- like how it feels to drive our wide selection of cars at 60fps, the visuals on a new tracks, the damage, wheel-to-wheel racing, stuff like that. Most importantly, it gives you a very good idea about how the game feels -- something that will certainly be amplified by the demo's support of the 360 force feedback wheel. Again, the when question is still an unknown, but the good news is that it won't be much longer now!

So there you have it. Demo within the next two weeks. My money is on the 27th.

Gonna have to get a new graphics card in the summer so i can play CMR Dirt in all its glory! :D

Im really anxious for forza 2, if the demo pans out, think Ill end up picking up a wireless wheel.

am I the only one that thinks the cars look awful? It looks like something you'd see a college student draw in his 3d art class...

Especially this one, I wouldn't buy the game on this screen shot alone.

the graphics arent mindblowing
but that's definately not what this game is all about anyways

I wish this would come out for the PC. I must have this game.

****in bastards. I am still waiting for price drops on 360 - BIG 'UNS. lol Like LePobz :naughty: -or I'll never bite.

for the PC, did you guys get GTR 2? Holy Shit - Good Game. Gawna go playit now.

Ves, try searching around town for stores with deals, I got a premium (or whatever the best 360 is) for $300, and I got an extra controller, from Microcenter

I've played the first forza and the driving physics didn't impress me. So unless this game steps up their realism, it's still a thumbs down from me.

I'm more impressed by the look of Dirt and the soft body physics, that and I just find rally games more interesting, 100mph jumps on forest tracks into trees ftw.

It's a shame it's a pretty poor wheel, for one it can only turn quiet limited to right and left(Not like the G25 for PS2 and PC which can turn the wheel as much as a real ordinary car can), but the force feedback is also way to light, you barely feel anything, the pedal 'resistance' is also pretty meh, when I brake I like when it feels as if I break, not as if I'm just pushing the gaspedal(No resistance whatsoever on the MS Wireless Wheel pedals), I'm sorta hoping Logitech will make a followup off their G25(Maybe a G35) that's crosscompatible with both PC, PS3 and XB360, boy that'd be sweet

As I said in the GTR2 thread, logitec has a racing wheel for 360, I saw it on sale for $79 at the store. I'd like to see a comparison review of the Microsoft 360 one and the logitec one. Force Feedback rules, I hope logitec did better, if the MS one is a slight disapointment like you say it is.

Sadly the Logitech one isn't particulary better thant he MS Wireless one from what I've heard, the Logitech G25 has a RRP(Recommended Retail price) of 299.99 USD, but keep in mind this is one of the more advanced wheel on the markets, but as I said, if they release it for XB360+PC+PS3 I'll buy it again no questions asked.:)

Agreed completely.

A lot of the sound in GT get's really irritating after a while.

not as annoying as forza's representation of grass physics.

200mph to 30mph in 15 feet on grass...it was like hitting a brick wall.

Really, thats like $150 off + tax. When I'm ready to buy, I'll make sure I get a deal on it. Thanks.

(I thought prices were fixed by Microsoft pretty much. Must be + or - how much the retailer wants to gain)

cool,I'm going to watch all the videos, i'm downloading a couple HD ones ATM.

If this game is excellent, I'll pretty much pre-order the game and get a 360. If it's only a great game, I'm waiting until it's $20. I can't lose.

There was an ad in the latest issue of EGM. You unfold this thing and it releases a scent. It's supposed to be the smell produced by the Nissan Fairlady Z as it pulls away from the starting grid using 275/35-19 Toyo Proxes R888 racing tires inflated to 42 psi.

Smelled like ass. Other than that I can see myself picking this up.
