Not since Cock Robin has the death of a tiny bird caused such emotion.

The shooting of a sparrow on the set of a Dutch world record domino-toppling attempt sparked outrage among animal lovers and led to threats to staff.

A special website received thousands of messages of condolence, but some say the bird didn't do itself any favours by knocking over 23,000 dominoes.

LOL

I'd have done more than shot it.

Haha, i would be pretty pissed too... you set up a few million dominoes... and some bird comes and knocks half of them over :p

There has been quite a large fuss about this. You'd think there were more important things happening in the world, but hey.

The reactions can roughly be divided into two sides: one says "who cares about some bird", other says "why was an animal killed for sitting on some stupid bits of plastic?".

Being dutch, I get to have an opinion too, and I tend to agree with the second, especially because the whole domino fest is a retarded commercialized event. I don't think it's right to kill animals just to save your inane domino pieces and more money is made.

I don't know if it's morally right, but I sure would have killed it anyway...

Seems equivalent to the country making a fuss about someone hitting a squirrel with their car. Kind of silly.

It just seems like such a waste of energy. If they're against birds being killed, then look at the poultry industry.

You could argue that killing animals for food is more justified than killing them because they sat on your plastic bits, but meh. As I said the fuss is silly. There are far more important things to be angry about, but those aren't on the news so no one cares.

Wacht even groen konijntje, jij leeft in nederland?
Anyway, if they ate it afterwards or fed it to their dogs it's fine by me, otherwise it's a waist.

It is if someone owns the bird; that's stealing. Or vandelism.. or something. :/

OMG A BIRD DIED...wait, thousands die every day! Why and I bitching about this ONE? Oh well...*grumble off into the distance*

I would like to take the bird's side, since I disagree with using dominoes for this frivolous purpose.

I don't! I just hate them being used for such trivial purposes! D:

Dominoes have little spots on, and stuff. They aren't meant to be toppled! You'll anger God! D:

Grah. Fecking activists. Here is a small bird. I have a gun. I am able to kill said bird, as it is less important than me. If you have a problem with it, get a pair and breed them to make up for it. Do not complain at me. I will not feel sorry for it, I will not apologize for it (Becuase I don't feel sorry) and it will not change the fact that I shot it.

If you feel the need to punish me by being irritating, threatening me, or otherwise nagging me to feel sorry/say sorry/turn back time, you will become less important than me. And I still have a gun.
