Fourm editing ?

You know on the forums here it says "Manhack" or "Headcrab" ect. below my name is there any way to change that to anything i want? i want to do it for my forums..like it says "Spectator" or w/e and i want to change it.. any ideas?

It depends on what you're using for Forum Software. Most of them have it as "User Titles". You can make it so any user can set their own, or you can give predefined ones like here, based on post count or special ranking.

Well what about if lets say im admin of a forum and i want to go through the rank system myself what do i do? because what i have learned so far i can only have 1 rank becouse its a special rank i Still want.. ok let me make it not so confusing I want it to go ... My user name....Site Designer... then my posting Rank.. any idea how to have the name of the "Site Designer" and still go through the ranks?

It really depends on the software. I'm only very well versed in PHPBB, vBulletin, and SMF, which all allow you to set "special ranks", as well as ranks based on posts.

With setting ranks specially, you have to create a group, give the entire group the custom title, and then add certain members to the groups.

If you let me know what you're using, I'll throw together a step by step guide (with pictures!)

Ok parkour, check this out.

The first thing you want to do is log into your Admin Control Panel. Now it automatically opens up on the "general" tab, so you want to switch over to the "users and groups" tab. (Like this). Once on that page, go down to "manage ranks" on the left. Then, add new rank. (Pic 2) Then you want to (enter) the rank title and whether it's special. If it is not a special rank, it will be based on post count. We'll go with "yes".

Now we're gonna go back to the (General tab) and under "quick access", hit "manage groups", then enter a name and press "create new group". A group details page will come up. It should look like this. You want to enter a name, description is optional. Then you have the "Group Type" options. Open. Request. Closed. Hidden. Open means any member can join the group. Request, they can request to be added. Closed, only the group leader can add members. And hidden, the group can't be viewed. Group color will affect the way the group shows up on the main page. (here's mine) After setting that (or leaving it default), you can choose the group's rank.

Now we'll put people into the group. We're gonna go BACK to manage groups, as in step4. and this time, rather than making a new group, we're going to look at the current group and press members. The page that comes up is for managing the people. It lists the group leaders, who can add or remove people, as well as who is in the group. At the bottom of that page, you can add members. You DO want to set it to be their default group, because otherwise the color or ranking may not show up.

Horray! Hopefully that should work fine. Let me know if you have any more questions or if something wasn't too clear.
