'Without religion' is one thing but I can show you plenty of 'atheist' states - the governments of the UK, France, Germany, Sweden, theoretically the USA - all of these are 'secular' and thus atheist states. Plenty of societies have survived, by and large, without God.
All states run by a church are evil. In the middle ages, they killed you if you were not a certain religon. BUT, today socialism is killing my nation. Is it related to religion? Don't know. But ever since religion has been going down, it seems there has been an increase in epic fail. but if your going to use the Current top macho nations as examples, I can't say much for Europe except from what I see on youtube: riots and epic fail. But I can say for America.
USA- Headed for a North American Union and socialistic dictatorship. I can't say much outside looking in at the Euros, but living in America, I can say why no religon is = epic fail. Most Americans are Christian. Today, many in power are attempting to remove religon. Now, before this, yes, much reform was needed, but because they have aggressively attempted to remove religon, most Christians have turned into radicals. As such, most Socialists are becoming radicals. Now, for the most part, those socialists want religion out, North American Union in, and the state as the religon. Don't believe me? I sound like a tin hat conspirator? Fine, but I live here. They ban Christmas trees/ Hanukkah stuff, etc. They ban everything having to do with religon. Now, the people are angry and radicalizing. I can only say I hope to be out of this place when they ban guns, because then the government will be in epic failure. I can't say how it's all related, I don't know. But when you ask a southerner if the government is taking their rights/religon away, they say yes. When you ask a northerner, they sometimes say yes. It seems to me that the government is in the hands of socialists who are trying to do what they want without anyone knowing, but can't due to the interwebs.
Now, I'm going to put on my tin hat and sleep.
