Fox News attacks "Golden Compass"

'Without religion' is one thing but I can show you plenty of 'atheist' states - the governments of the UK, France, Germany, Sweden, theoretically the USA - all of these are 'secular' and thus atheist states. Plenty of societies have survived, by and large, without God.

All states run by a church are evil. In the middle ages, they killed you if you were not a certain religon. BUT, today socialism is killing my nation. Is it related to religion? Don't know. But ever since religion has been going down, it seems there has been an increase in epic fail. but if your going to use the Current top macho nations as examples, I can't say much for Europe except from what I see on youtube: riots and epic fail. But I can say for America.

USA- Headed for a North American Union and socialistic dictatorship. I can't say much outside looking in at the Euros, but living in America, I can say why no religon is = epic fail. Most Americans are Christian. Today, many in power are attempting to remove religon. Now, before this, yes, much reform was needed, but because they have aggressively attempted to remove religon, most Christians have turned into radicals. As such, most Socialists are becoming radicals. Now, for the most part, those socialists want religion out, North American Union in, and the state as the religon. Don't believe me? I sound like a tin hat conspirator? Fine, but I live here. They ban Christmas trees/ Hanukkah stuff, etc. They ban everything having to do with religon. Now, the people are angry and radicalizing. I can only say I hope to be out of this place when they ban guns, because then the government will be in epic failure. I can't say how it's all related, I don't know. But when you ask a southerner if the government is taking their rights/religon away, they say yes. When you ask a northerner, they sometimes say yes. It seems to me that the government is in the hands of socialists who are trying to do what they want without anyone knowing, but can't due to the interwebs.

Now, I'm going to put on my tin hat and sleep.

Kill God? As I remember it, the final bad guy was more a Satan than a God.

No, actually neither side. I sleep looking up for that satellite that's reading my brainz

Tin hats amplify radio signals used by the US Military.

I can't say much for Europe except from what I see on youtube: riots and epic fail.

In Paris there are riots, but these aren't related to religion. Outside of that, I have no idea what your're talking about. Europe is becoming more secularised every day, and we don't have any more or less problems. Face it, your wrong. USA must be doing it wrong. :rolling:

BTW, why are you assuming that all atheists are socialists? I'm capatalist. And haven't you heard of christian socialism? Honestly, your entire argument is a pile of horseshit, you got everything wrong.

I can't say much for Europe except from what I see on youtube: riots and epic fail.
What kind of epic fail you mean? I know little about riffraff riots in Paris, you know it's Paris, not whole Europe.

USA- Headed for a North American Union and socialistic dictatorship.
Excuse me?

Now, I'm going to put on my tin hat and sleep.
Now, that's good idea!

BTW, I'm European, atheist and right wing capitalist.

What the **** are you talking about?!

They are selflessly giving each other opportunities to turn the other cheek. One can't hog all of the cheek-turning for oneself after all.

What was I talking about? I don't know. I had just read a bunch of articles on the tin hat site "abovetopsecret"

Any how, Most Christians support Guns because... Hmmm, I don't know.

I guess most are for gun holding, but don't actually own one. Who cares. In America, it is engraved into you in school that you have the mandatory need for a fire arm to defend yourself from the man you just elected.

To quote a teacher of mine a few years back " If they ever elect a bad guy, you have to be ready to defend yourself. That's what the founding fathers wanted, and that's the way they built the constitution"

lol, another fool who thinks he'll take back america with a hunting rifle ..someone needs to do make a comic strip - 2 panels, the first a mob of angry citizens carrying guns and pitchforks heading towards the nations capital and a second panel with a tank with bloody treads superimposed over a newspaper headline that reads "terrorists try to take over america, 2 brave soldiers killed, 635 evil terrorists wtfpwned by the defenders of America!!!"

To quote a teacher of mine a few years back " If they ever elect a bad guy, you have to be ready to defend yourself. That's what the founding fathers wanted, and that's the way they built the constitution"

you also have the right to die a burtal dishonourable death as a terrorist bent on overthrowing america ..because that's how you'll be portrayed by the media ..as terrorists, not liberators

actually, most army men, like citizens, have hatred for the gov too. And they'll only be angrier if they ban guns.

I was just searching for that. I'll get it eventually, but I have work to do first. Unlike you kool kids, I don't go out on friday nights. :(

uhhh what? America has been becoming more religious oriented since it first started. When it first started America was hesitant to select a christian president. They were scared America would turn into that of Europe.
Now look at America. Now look at Europe. Europe has become a lot less church oriented. America has become a lot MORE church oriented. From adding "under god" in the pledge of allegience, George W. Bush saying "God Told Me To Attack Afganistan", George W. Bush saying, "Atheists shouldn't be considered citizens", "Hey lets add the 10 commandments in a court". An Atheist person campaigning for president would not make it. A poll about a year back showed how people would Vote based on "If you're president with this or this would you vote for him". If the president was Atheist only 10% would still vote for him, despite if the other 90% liked his policies. You have to be christian in order to gain presidency. America is just being a big christian nation.

Atheism doesn't lead to depression. Otherwise you're gonna sit here and tell me 80% of Sweden is depressed?

Russia did not fail became of Atheism. Russia failed because of dictatorship, violations of human rights, illegitmacy of the government, communist economic system, cold war, etc... If Russia did fail because of Atheism then please explain to me how the country of Sweden, with a far majority of its citizens Atheist, has a very high standard of living and a very high level of education.

Cole, I was trying to get the point through that the government is getting more socialist and less in touch with the people (complete contradiction). In a democracy, the government goes the way of the people. If the people are religious, the government must learn to not incorporate the particular religion into the government, but still not attempt to silence it in all forms. America is currently going the complete opposite way of the populace's opinion, hence why 80% of the nation hates the government. Hence why a civil war is bound to be in our future. Currently, the government gives a little bit of word to make it appear like it's listening. Bush gives a speech including God for thanks, then goes and attempts the opposite of what he says. Last I checked, he promised a crap load of stuff to the Religious people, and so far, 7 years in, he hasn't done one thing he promised.

The government has got a total of 10, maybe 8, years at most before it collapses.

What?!? Our Government still has legitimacy. People don't dislike our government. They like that. They simply don't like the bush administration. The executive branch is only one part of our government. 80% of the nation dislikes the current executive branch of the government.
80% of the nation dislikes the bush administration.
The Bush Administration is gonna be out in.... a year?
This is not britian. This is not a fused power system. Then maybe you could get away with what your saying. If we had a fused power system I could see us of having a vote of confidence by now and a new administration would be ruling.

Another thing which you don't seemed to understand is that. Most of what all presidents promise wont happen. This is because we have seperation of powers. Getting congress and the president to get anything into law is a miracle. If we had a fused power system, it would be like clockwork.

Another thing is. Yes the people are religious. And our government is becoming more religious. Theres no doubt about that. The problem about government not incorporating religious ideals directly into the government refers to changing the constitution and well getting congress and the president to agree on something and pass it. If anything Bush got attacked for saying "God told me to attack". That was a bad thing he did. The American Public viewed that negatively. Why? While most of America is religious most of America is scared that if religion takes over in our government we will become a fundamentialist nation. Becoming a fundamentialist christian nation is no better than fundamentilist muslim nation/organization.

So I would imagine the average american does not want to much religious ideas in our government in fear of religious fundamentalism. What they do want is having leaders who are religious and agree with them on some political issues such as abortion.

No, 80% hate the government as a whole. The executive, the legislative, and I think even the Judicial.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19209733/

Can't find any polls on the judicial though. Theres one a few years old with it at 60%, so their doing pretty well.

And I can't name one thing Bush said that he kept his words too. Nothing. Maybe the economy, but that's iffy.
