fps > graphics ?

dunno if this is supposed to go here, but meh.

ok so even tho HL2 is an absolutely beautiful game and all
im sure a lot of gamers would just want to crank the graphics to minimum
just to get enuf of that oh so important FPS.

so if there are smart people out there who would be able to create such a thing,
as a high-fps-config or a VERY deep tweaking guide. and i dont mean like drivers, defraggin etc. etc.
i mean everything that can be done from inside the game itself.
all the commands that effect the performance the most or so.

i asked yahn and he said that almost every command effects performance,
so perhaps its not that easy a task, but im sure there would be
THOUSANDS of people who would love such a thing.

That comment was stupid.
Theres a ton of people who cant get decent fps or decent graphics out of this game. Alot of people who meet the minimum specs actually. Besides wtf do you care?

Anyway, a tweeking guide will come with time. The HL community is exellent at things like that.

the game runs smooth enought to play it @ the minimum configuration when u turn everything to low.
i have a low end rig for myself, but id rather play with 30-40 fps @ medium quality dx8 then with 90-110 fps @ low quality dx7

you are loosing almost everything in the game when u even turn the renderpath to dx7 ...

I play in Dx7 and I still get like 5-20 fps.. its pretty sucky but I guess Ill have to live with it until I can buy me a better computer ;/

Yeah, but this game is unusual in that it's pretty scalable (across 3-4 generations of card). So there's probably not too much to gain from tweaking it - if your system is too weak to run it, you probably need to upgrade.

Its a 512sdram P4 1.5ghz gf5200fx
it was at the "top" of the market when i bought it but its came down lol
its just when i bought it i didnt know alot about computers and its been a while. im only 15 so i cant really get a job or anything and my parents think my computer is perfect.....
i believe i bought this pc when xp came out about a week after or two
