Not sure if this is the right place to post this...Sorry if its in the wrong board.

I am looking for help with my computer. I am only able to play source with around 15 FPS, 10 FPS on most maps.(20+ in crappy maps like Iceworld).

(I looked on the sticker on the side, copied most of the things. Not the stuff like dvd burner though :p)

Intel P4 3.06GHz
Video "card"-Intel Media Accelorator 900
512 MB DDR SDRAM(Dual channel capable, it says)
(If you need any more information please ask, I will get it immediantly).

http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=2908260 <----Link to my Motherboard for any information I might have missed.
(It says it has 3 availble PCI EX slots, and a 16X one. However, inside my computer its only a PCI-EX X1 slot, and 2 white slots.(3 slots all together)
About the video cards, I checked Inside my computer to see if it had Pci-ex slots/AGP. It has a Pci-EX slot...But its only a 1X...(Cant get the full X16 -_-)

I paid $1.000 for it. I regret getting it. Too late to take it back.
I want to try to be able to run CS:S on around 20-30 FPS. I would like for it not to drop below 15 FPS, if possible.

Alright, now my questions.

Could you guys reccomend a video card.(I know I am very limited with the PCI-Ex being 1X)

(if its possible with my computer) Could I get more ram?(If so, how much more).

Is it possible to get a new motherboard(Or whatever it is) so I can be able to run X16 video cards?

I really appreciate if you would help. I am very dissapointed in wasting money on a computer like this. Should of bought custom parts like most people do.

(remember, if you need any more information. Just ask me, I will gladly tell you what you need to know about this comp)

you cant put a pci-e 16x card into a pci-e 4x slot the card would not fit.

If you want to you can always sell the computer on ebay or at a store willing to buy it. I dont think there are any pci-e 4x cards even available. The most you can get are pci cards. (with a 6200 being the best)

Sorry about that. My so called "smart" friend told me it was a PCi-EX X4. Its a PCI-EX X1 -_-(I checked on websites)

Edit: The 6200 you say. That would be a GeForce right? Would it be able to run CS:S around 20-30 fps?(If it is)

You must get a dedicated graphics card in order to play PC games at acceptable frame rates. Counter Strike Source is not a very demanding game and runs well on most hardware however your Intel Media Accelerator 900 is not sufficient.

I would recommend trying to return your system or sell it and buy a replacement.

Another option would be to get a PCI videocard like the one here:

Do you think that 5500 would run Source at 20-30 FPS?(sorry, I dont know much about video cards)

The 6200 is better (DX 9 as opposed to DX 8 that the 5500 is),
it would probably get you more than 40 fps.

The 6200 is a AGp4X/8X right? I dont have any AGP slots. Only a PCI EX X1.

Alright. Thanks guys I appreciate your help with my problems. However I am still deciding on wether or not returning this, getting the $1.000 bucks and building a new computer or keeping it and buying the 6200. Like I said before, Thanks for your help. On one last note..I think I am going crazy.....

white is pci black is pci-e any x
your stuck with buying a pci card unless you get a new motherboard.

Didn't you say you couldn't return it though? The best thing you could do is is return it if possible, and 2nd best is selling it and using the money to get a MUCH better system.

The thing is.

It came with all these extra things, like a printer,Surge protector, paper, ink,a bunch of things. The box it orginally came in had cut out rebates on it. My mom cut off the rebates and the box has some holes in it. Forgot to mention she threw out the printer box. I doubt they will take it back, even though we have receipts

Edit: I understand that buying a system is the best thing to do. Its just I'am 14 years old, I cannot get a job. All this money is coming straight from my parents pockets. However I do plan to ask my mom to get me the Geforce 6200 video card. I DO want a top of the line computer but not when its coming straight from my parents pockets. When I become 16 I can work with my dad and make roughly $600 a week. I'll use that to get me a awesome computer. Right now, I just want to be able to play source. I don't want the best quality, just want to be able to play it.If your true to your word, that with my system and the geforce 6200 will probabably run source at around 40 FPS I am damn well happy.

yea you wont be able to return it if you sent the reciepts. also what job would you do with you dad. i mean $600 a WEEK?!?!? my friends make that much in a month.

Construction. We already made a deal with the company's owner. When I become 16 I can work there, and make about $16 an hour.(weekends is like $25 an hour)
