hi im new. love half life.
i have this problem, its not really the sound stutter problem, but the sound does pop when this happens. HL2 was smooth gameplay with very little hitching. starting episode 2 i was blown away by the HDR stuff, its great, still the same avg framerates i had from HL2 at my native 1280x800 resolution (35-60 fps on alienware m5500 geforce go 6600), so i was happy with it, but as i progress, somewhere along chapter 3 or so, i start getting some instances where the frames drop to like 7 or 9 fps, and i dont know why. and its not at the same location every time, sometimes, but not every time. sometimes it doesnt do it for a long time, but it seems like it does it at all the wrong moments. so i finished the game anyhow, even with the occasional fps drop to unplayable, in which case i just waited for it to go back to normal before continuing. now my wife is getting into Ep1 after completing HL2 and its fps stuttering for her at the beginning of the game, where i had no stutters at all (like i siad this didnt come about till some time into the game). its pretty annoying and ive tried just about every so called 'fix' with no results. it does this on any resolution or detail setting of audio or video. no extra cpu eating programs are on, except steam (hah) so, i dont know whats up. im done with it, but my wife wants to finish the story before we hit Ep2. i hope to GOD its not like Ep1 as far as the fps lag of im gonna cry very much.
btw i know i need a new computer, but it should not be having this issue as otherwise it runs fine.
i know there are countless threads on similar situations, but i dont know if its talking about this one, so i hope im not being an idiot by making a new thread.
