free and simple DVD authoring program?

got an oem dvd-rw recently($43 at newegg) and I wanted to put some old 80s commercials i have onto a dvd with a little dvd menu so i can show some people(legal i think?). some are mpg, others wmv. i found programs that cost $ and have trial versions, but i know there have to be some free solutions out there.

i looked on sourceforge & found free dvd tools, but they are all just exes and dlls and i have no clue how to use them. any ideas?

all i know of is just trail versions of software for dvd and i guess since u got it oem no software to work with so u could try the trails and those things u found on sourceforge they seem to be plugins for the software not the software
