Free Game : Psi-Ops : The Mindgate Conspiracy

NOD32 is amazing. I haven't reformatted since I installed it a year and a half ago, and my computer runs great.

AVG is great. Had my computer going flawlessly since installing it about a year ago. I haven't read any recent AV reviews though, so I may do that now.

You may just have trojans up the ass like AVG says. lol

Cracked exe's often scan positive. If they do, don't use them. It's never worth it IMO.

Protip -
(Heuristics are just suspicious - but they don't have a definition yet - they are just suspicious, but not necessarily a real threat.)

I think I've heard there is a website that will scan your file with several anti-virus progs.

I read the title as Psi-Ops: The Midget Conspiracy :|

I gave it a try, don't like it, at least on the PC, because I remember thinking it was ok when I tried the demo on the PS2 when it came out.

I get error messages when trying to load the game, AVAST goes crazy and and i select 'no action', then I get error message saying cannot write to some memory thing

As far as the virus thing... All the time with AVG and now since I'm using Avast, the only times the viruses/trojans or whatever have been simple false positives, the virus programs classified them as generic types... the one posted by xlucidx in the first page is a lot more specific than that, which is not very indicative of a false positive, at least in my experience.

I started using Avast recently too by the way... since the new AVG really disappoints me. I just wish Avast had faster scan times! It's far slower than AVG ever was for scanning files.

Check the link I posted on the last page - Avast gives exactly that alert (Junkpoly[Cryp]) in response to Adobe Premier. I've seen another instance online of Avast shouting about Junkpoly on a clean file; it's to do with the packing/encrypting technique used, or something like that. While it is not giving a generic trojan name, it is still a generic heuristic that is being tripped.

And the chances of NOD32 completely missing something serious while Avast and AVG pick it up are so slim as to be virtually nil, IMO. Free AV's like AVG should definitely not be used as an acid test like this; there is a reason why the better AV's charge. I would bet a large amount that this game is clean of trojans.

OK I get the following pop up box after selecting "noa ction" in avast:

'Can't spawn unlocked child process, error #5. If error persists contact Softwrap support'

I click OK to that and get:

'Can't write to external process memory - error #6. If error persists contact Softwrap support'

Ive downlaoded the game again but still get the same errors... any ideas?

Awesome!

Thanks for the heads up on this game!
