Free IRC Client?

I was wondering if anyone knew a good free IRC client? I've never been big on IRC, but I'd like to give it a try. I appreciate any help that is given.

The version that I downloaded from mIRC.com says that it only has a 30 trail period. At the end of 30 days I have to pay a one time $20 fee. Is this just BS? Also, there are many more IRC clients than mIRC, but everyone that I've gone to has the same 30 day trial deal.

I dunno, I never had to, isn't it just some kind of suggestion that you could donate, I never had to.

Thank you for evaluating mIRC. mIRC is shareware, which means that after you have evaluated mIRC for 30 days, you are required to register it if you wish to continue using it. The registration is a small, affordable, one time payment of US$20.00, and will also work with future versions of mIRC.

When it says required, it means to use it legally...

However it still works perfectly fine after the 30 days are up.

Not that i know that, ehem, I payed, ehem.


btw, an alternative IRC client is pIRCh ... it's not the only one :-P

And while you're at it you should pay for that copy of paint shop pro that the shareware time ran out on 11 years ago...

Well, I've gotten it up and running but I can't connect to any servers.
It keeps on giving me this error msg.

Any help with this would be appreciated!

okay, NM about the last problem I think I've got it worked out. How do I get into the #halflife2 channel? Sorry, I've never used mIRC enough to have a clue as to what I'm doing.

Join the server that it is located on and then type in /join #halflife2

Thank you very much! I played around with it and got there. In there right now.

And a couple of obscure Linux clients that I can't remember the names of.

Theres also trillian, but i dont think that is free.
