Short version - I want to buy a supply of food to last a month (Breakfast lunch and dinner), including packed lunchs for work (Garage sandwhichs are expensive). I'm sorted for breakfast and dinner, but the trouble is, bread is freezable, but sandwhich filler isn't. I don't want to have to go to the supermarket every 2-3 days just for this one thing, so I need some help...

Are those little pots of sandwhich filler in fact freezable (No, the fact that it will freeze, but then kill me dosen't count :p)
If not, can anyone suggest sandwhich filling that is freezeable/lasts without freezing. I'd like a bunch of suggestions, as eating the same thing every day will slowly drive me (further) round the bend

Marx and spencers do the best freezable microvave meals ever.

Thanks, but I've already sorted breakfasts and dinners (Freezable ready meals and cerial :))

Its just lunch type stuff I need now

You can freeze sperm, I saw it on TV. Do you like sperm?

I can't cook ready meals in a car or a I would.

Can we please not derail this? I do need to find a solution.

Good sandwich filler that lasts = Anything in a tin (little tins of tuna chunks are great). Also, Spam.

Doesnt packaged deli meat last more than 2-3 days?

Yeah, tinned food makes a bit more sense than frozen for a road trip, or whatever you're doing anyway, that stuff is low maintenance and lasts forever

get a cheap little camping stove and you're set with tins of beans, chilli, spaghetti and whatever else they put in cans now

Also; Smoked/salted meats like salami, I'm pretty sure they last quite a while

Jars of jam would also be a logical choice. Sugar is a natural preservative, hence jam shouldn't go off too quick, although it can go mouldy if kept too warm. Same for honey and marmalade. Best kept in a cool place.

Some spreads also seem to last a long time. Nutella seems to last several months in a cupboard without going off. I'm not sure about the shelf life of peanut butter or Marmite as I don't eat either, but they may be possibilities.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I think tinned meat and jars of stuff is the way to go.

I spend all day driving to clients for those that were wonmdering. I think a camping stove may raise a few eyebrows on the side of the A4 though :D

For something more nutritious, why don't you freeze soup? Correction - freeze soup stock in bowls. It'll turn into something like jello, then you can easily heat it up and serve, while adding vegs/meat/anything desired.

*Googles "marmite"* Oh..my..GOD... wtf? Yuck.

You can totally freeze bologna and cheese (separately of course) and take out just as much as you need to make a sandwich. Just take out some the night before and let it thaw before you throw it on the bread, so it doesn't get soggy.

Am I really giving freezer/sandwich advice? *sigh*

Ketchup and Mustard last a long time with some processed cheese.

canned beans, actually don't know if it's freezer safe but you can keep'm outside :p

you might want to look into the nutritional content of those frozen dinners , just make sure you're getting your essential vitamins and nutrients. i honestly dont know how anyone can live of off it hats of to you sir.

A good point. I'm kinda relying on my breakfast (museli) to provide the actual nutrition, whilst lunch and dinner just provide top ups :)

Anyway, its gotta be better than garage sandwhiches 3 times a day right?
