Loads of servers are FF on now, it's a huge contrast in playing style. I hate getting team killed if I act suspecious, like go to a Dispenser to heal I get wacked thinking I'm a Spy bugging it. Makes the team have to communicate more (but unfortunately don't).

Personally I like FF off, just because you can blow crap up anywhere and everywhere. :D

There needs to be a server filter for this, as I joined 3 in a row with FF on. :(

FF is for CS, IMO.

You simply don't have enough control over splash damage in a game like TF(2).

Never played on an FF-On server yet. :\
But I can't see it being fun with it on.

You don't know how many times I run into my base disguised, and everyone starts shooting me. If FF were on, I would be incredibly pissed off.

Have you even played TF2?

Friendly spies have freaking masks on their face. Only intentional TKers shoot them.

Spies love FF servers as they can start a lot of trouble and people TKing each others to make sure they aren't a spy.

I don't like FF in TF2 because of the spy (as an engineer I hit everyone that comes near my gun) and the loads of splash damage in the game.

Wait what? I must be an idiot but explain this to me. I thought when you are a spy everyone on your team sees you as the spy while the opposite is the one that sees you as a disguised figure.

I don't like FF. Like you guys have said, there is a lot of splash damage in this lovely TF2 game. And FF just doesn't fit the style or mood of the game IMO. More crazy killing! Don't need to be cautious.

And spies don't need any more help.

When you play as a spy and are disguised, try doing a taunt and moving the camera around to see your front.

Your team sees you the same way you see yourself (with a mask covering JUST your face, as if it were Halloween). But that is the give away to your team that you are on their side. Your team won't see an enemy spy's paper mask.

Correct, your teammates just see spies wearing a mask.

I know I have a mask on, but you have NO idea how many times I've been disguised, and they still shot at me.
They don't pay attention to what I am or anything. They just ****ing shoot randomly at everyone.

I will go into my base not shooting as any class, and they start shooting away at me. :|

As a spy, it is exactly the same even though I have a mask on.

People are ****ing retarded.

Thats what spies do to the low skilled or new player. They get knifed in the back by an engineer twice and then they "Dead Check" everything thats runs back from the front lines.

I get shot by my own team as a Spy so much. Mainly because I love taking the disguise as an enemy Spy, it's really tricky but very effective. You'll get shot by the otherside and lose some health but then they realise and leave you. From which point they accept you running within your team thinking you are simply disguised. Not sure why no one works it out.

I would think that the only people enabling friendly fire when they set up a server are people who play as spies most of the time...There is no other reason for it other than to create as much chaos as possible while turning the opposing team mates on each other.
I have played on a couple of servers that have friendly fire enabled, but I didn't stick around long...The spies have enough of and edge as it is without tipping the balance by making people afraid to 'test' their team mates with a shot or two...
Friendly fire should definately be on.

Your team will see enemy spies just like a regular teamate, they don't see a spy with a mask on. Now if a teamate comes up to a sentry or dispenser and just look at it or something, the engie will think you're a spy and will shoot the shit out of you to make sure your NOT a spy.

I can see where FF being on could be awesome AND a problem. Now I'd like it on for spy's mostly. I'm a spy most of my time, so I always hate just casually walking around the enemy base, not doing anything suspicious, and get shot at by a pyro while they "make sure". Now, that's why I don't like FF and TFC so much as spy. Everybody has grown so accustomed to just shooting their teamates, that it's common practice.

Now where FF would be bad, with Soldiers and Demoman and Heavies. I mean, come on, we all know how people don't pay attention and just run into your fire/nades/rockets/etc. It happens. With this game, it would happen SO much more. I feel it would just make the game more frustrating. But it would keep people at bay while trying to catch spys by just randomly shooting! Would mean the really skilled spies would get away more often...and the noobs would get caught and slaughtered *as it should be imo*

Well it would add another layer to the gameplay, because on servers where its off you can just shoot anyone in sight on your team in case they may be a spy, makes it extremely hard to be a spy that way. But when FF is on people will have to be more careful where they shoot. I probably would prefer FF off because of the potential "accidents" that will cause me to wait for a 20 second spawn time constantly, especially with the Demoman's grenades and Soldiers RPG splash damage.

If you are not going with the flow then of course they will check you thinking you might be a spy. Or if you are in an odd location in the map for the class you picked.

But when I sometimes play as a spy it seems just the engineer is checking people regularly. If no one else has issue with me then I just have to cloak past that one guy and take a route into their base. Then circle around and come from behind (running the right direction with the flow) as a friendly character. And I can get the drop on even the engineer.

I dont mind FF, but i find the game more fun without it. If i was playing with teammates only i wouldnt care for FF as a matter of fact probably prefer it. So ya depends on the situation.

lol whenever I play as engineer I shoot everyone that comes by to be safe

I truly think FF would shine on clan matches mostly...since there wouldn't be so many random newbs just shooting demoman nades everywhere.

You have to be a fking retard to even think of turning friendly fire on.

FF doesn't belong in any of the TF versions at all.
I've never liked it and i never will.
FF is meant for tactical and slower paced game play.
TF's game play is too chaotic for it.

I play pyro. FF is very bad as things get rather hectic in CQC. I'd assault a base and set three teammates on fire by accident because they ran into the fray.

:/

I've played on a couple of FF servers, and honestly, I've not really noticed the difference.

Except once, where some retarded loser on our team was a demoman, spamming sticky bombs in our base and killing any of our team members that ran by. :flame:

Yeah, because anyone not shooting might well be a spy.

And TBH, it's not that easy to see whether you've got a mask on or not in the fraction of a second to decide whether to shoot or not shoot... you still look very similar to an enemy spy disguised as a spy.

This is probably the one game i dont like FF on. Doesnt fit the game at all.
