Friends server never letting me sign on

I just cant sign on to the server for the freinds network. is anyone else having this problem?

The friends list never EVER works. It's steams most useless feature

It worked for me the very first time I played 1.6 and has never worked since, I think vavle forgot about it.

I can't even get my games to appear anywhere once I host them.

Not on the SteamingPile server list, or accessed through firect IP, or gametiger, ect..

And yes, I have my firewall off.

ya it is really wierd cuz i could get it to work like a week ago then it just stoped working really abrupt, some other ppl in my area are haveing the same problem connecting to friends aswell.

So is there a solution to getting on to the Friends server?

I've been trying every few hours for the last few days without success. I had a look at Steam's FAQ and it said no special adjustments (i.e. opening ports) was necessary when using XP sp1, which is what I'm using. I think I managed to get on to the Friends server months ago when I first got the game, and then I haven't tried till this week.

I'm using ADSL, 1.25gb RAM, Athlon XP 2.2ghz, everything else works, just the Friends server is giving problems.

So if anyone has any tips or tricks about this, it'd be great to hear them.

Nah, dude, it just flatout doesn't work.

I just hope Valve figures out how to make this feature work and update Steam. Now that VAC is up and all.

Man... the other day I randomly met a guy named Chaos in a Rats server, had a freaking blast with him, and haven't heard from him since thanks to the friends list not working >:/ I ahte u steam... Oh yeah, he was like ranked number 9 too, which was sweet.
