from old skool TF to new TF2

I havent posted anything on these forums in a longggggggg time...
but I figure nows a good time to dust off the account.
I've been playing TF since the 1st release on quake then migrated over to MegaTF that good ol Ambush made as a slight alteration to quakes TF mod
it was everything I wanted in a fastpace shoot em up teamed FPS. I played every day almost for years. Then I remember the day halflife came out and ran down to the store and got it played the hell out of it but still played mega TF. Then TFC was on its way, I never got into quake 2 just stuck with megaTF.
Then I got my hands on a beta version of TFC it was awesome I was so excited...well TFC came and palyed that for years. also played CS since 1st beta. TFC kinda faded out for me when halflife 2 was released. now its CS source...Ive waited since 99 for TF2 always told my friends just wait its gonna be great!...never came out or anything came about it. but now some real light into TF2 and it looks so awesome! Im really excited for it and it will be awesome, I can see it! I have nothing bad to say about what i've seen so far and I am damn picky when it comes to games. nothing really makes me excited anymore. halflife 2 did halflife did CS did and TF-TFC did
couple other games did in a small way but thats about it.
guess this shows where my allegiance stands.
Hell most kids now a days that play think TFC is what started it.
Which kinda sux because theyll never experince where it was truely formed from. And battle with the community that started the upbringing of the whole TF world.
I know their's still some guys out there that have been there since the begining and my hat is off to you for also sticking with it for all the years.

I think team fortress essentially pioneered the team based multiplayer shooter. Maybe the first tribes was somewhere around that time I don't know.

I remember playing TF, back before MegaTF came out.. it was a lot of fun

the awp was impossible to use, some players had like 150ping and pwnd which was skill, concing you could jump the entire map, and if i remember, the sentry did mad damage and was hard to take out. Looking at tf2 i really think they spent time playin the original because I see a lot of the same gameplay. I hope they keep it the same..

of corse awps are hard to use back in TF because CS wasn't even out for one of the CT's able to give it to one of the TF snipers.

it was just the sniper rifle. wasnt based on anything like cs does.

I loved killing sentry guns. I used a spy and blew them away with grenades. It helped the team even if I got fragged. =)

Yeah, I never played the original TF, but TFC was great. TF was made using the Quake engine IIRC.

Yeah, the whole of HL used the Quake engine.
