So I get home from the pub after turning my pc off 3 hrs earlier and its dead.

Unmountable volume. BSOD. Plugged it into anothe pc, same thing. Wont boot of xp cd. Cant chkdsk /f from 98 cd.

Got another hd im putting 2000 on.

Can I run HL2 on Linux? Might be happier doing that than pissing around with windows.

MTF.

I don't know about everyone else, but I don't think its clear what broke.

Your PC? your sound card? .. "pluged it into another pc" that doesn't make sense to me.

are you drunk? lol

I think he just has corrupt stuff, it happened to me awhile ago and awhile ago before that but just keep restarting it and may fix it then there was this thing you could do to fix it but im not too sure.

I have no idea of what you just said.

lol just keep trying to restart your computer and see if it doesnt blue screen and if it still does it then get your windows xp cd and boot into recovery console and do chkdsk and fixboot. Just try googling it because lots of stuff comes up.

I done everything google came up with. I plugged the hd into another pc to see if it would chdsk it for me. Nope. Wont boot off the cd I have. Someone on another forum suggested switching it to slave to recover some data, but he seemed to think the hd was on its way out.

Seems strange as it was running perfectly fine, no crashes for months.

In the meantime Im installing linux on another hd and going to see if I can run HL2 without windows.
