Full Cloverfield Trailer - New on 19/11/2007

That was my firefox lagging. Sorry.

It MUST be klickass if Asuka had to double post to place emphasis on it!

Ha that really was kickass.

Yeah, actually my interest is now more piqued. Whats in that trailer shows that the hand-held perspective at least works for some of it, and theres a lot of very bizarre stuff in that trailer.

The more I see the more it confirms what I was afraid of. The whole film is going to be a shaky cam fest, and I bet we won't see the monster the entire film.

You can see part of it moving in the trailer. Here's a still of it as it appears between some buildings:

Even if we don't get to fully see it, what ever happened to good old imagination?

I'm pretty sure those are two people wearing biohazard suits doing something to a woman.

Take another look at the woman. What is she? Some kind of balloon?

Aware of the hazmat guys Sedako, it's the woman that gets me. She suddenly bloats up while the hazmat crew is struggling with her.

Yeah, I noticed that after watching it again. Looks like this movie will be a lot deeper than the first trailer led us to believe. I'm all for it.

Cant wait for this.

That clip seriously looks like shes about to explode 0.o

Awesomeness.

wow i hadn't heard about this film at all until i saw this thread so thought i'd check it out, the trailer was great, a bit too much shaky-cam for me but i'm quite interested now.

What in the Hell?

yeah wtf? that weirded me out when i saw it, you only see it for like a split-second in the trailer but D:

You know what? Maybe she drank that Slusho shit and it's doing something to her.

Man, I'm really hyped for this movie now. Looks awesome. I know shakey cam can be ridiculous sometimes, but from this trailer I think it's looking like its working really well. Really interested to see what this is about but I think I'm going to hold out any more information and wait, just so I can truely find out for myself there and then. Lets face it, whatever this film is about will probably be unearthed soon enough.

I was reading through some of the posts on IMDB, and I came across one with a good explaination of how the monster could very well be Cthulhu. The thread can be read here, but you need a free membership:

I've been doing research on Cloverfield since the teaser came out before Transformers and I must say that I've compiled quite a bit of information from different sites, and with all the evidence that will follow I don't see how anyone can argue that it is Cthulhu or some Cthulu-esque monster.

- On Slusho.jp, under the "Happy Talk" section, one of the quotes was "Bloop". If you search "Bloop" you'll find that it's a noise scientists picked up coming from somewhere deep within the ocean. It's said to come from an unknown animal that is said to be larger than a blue whale. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloop This points to an underwater monster, which Cthulhu is.

- The basic story that underlies the history on the Slusho site is that a son takes over the work of his mother who died trying to find trying to find a new beverage flavor. The son has a dream and discovers the secret ingredient from the ocean floor. In 'The Call of Cthulhu' a man takes over the work of his dead Uncle who had been working with people who had had DREAMS of Cthulhu.

- To support the smaller monster theories, if there are smaller monsters, I found this: "The star-spawn of Cthulhu, or Cthulhi, have a physical simility with Cthulhu himself, but are of far smaller size. This race arrived with him, but relatively little is known about them. On earth they built the city R'lyeh, which later sank in the ocean, and where they still dwell with Cthulhu. A few are rumored to have escaped this incident, and can be found in hidden places on Earth."

- To support the transformation theories, I have found information on the Star-spawn from the previous statement: "Undersea dwellers which look like a cross between humans and fish (or frogs). Deep ones sometimes breed with humans, creating offspring which are human at first but make a slow transformation into deep ones. The deep ones serve Dagon and Cthulhu." Perhaps the ingredients in Slusho are the sperm of the Star-spawn and are somehow able to impregnate some. Yes, I know the digestive track does not connect to the reproductive organs, but this could possibly be explained somehow in the movie.

- Many authors have placed the sunken city of R'lyeh where Cthulhu lays at different locations, including off of Massachusetts and New York. H.P. Lovecraft however has him located in the Atlantic at 47 degrees South, 126 degrees West. Does the 47 look familiar? Read the opening text of the trailer.

- Lastly, after seeing the very high quality still of the monster crossing between buildings, I'm 100% positive this is Cthulhu. Compare these two pictures:

http://www.summeroflovecraft.com/images/cthulhu-6.jpg

Take a look at the back of the head of the monster and then the back of the head of Cthulhu. They are both extended in the back, green, and appear to be veiny and pulpy.

It's also important to mention, and I'm recalling this from what I saw way back on these boards, but if you follow the links in one of the character's myspace profiles, it will eventually lead you to a picture of a Cthulhu statue or figurine.

Looks like you might not be too far off Willie. There is also another quote on that happy talk page that says "I am so happy and full of Slusho that I might burst!" Hmm..

I don't see any video on that site... :(

I love that idea, and that's a nice find, but I also want to believe what Mr. Abrams said about it being an "intense and insane new monster".

The bloop was picked up several thousand miles away from where R'lyeh is located also.

Slsuho is a fictional beverage/company set within the Cloverfield thing, apparently.

And just to clarify if you didnt understand the sarcasm.
I know :|

Well it seems to fit in with some of the working title stuff that was tossed around calling it "The Parasite," but I can vouch that theres enough Lovecraftian things floating around to suggest a possible connection. However, while it might lift some of Lovecraft's monsters, he never wrote anything that would give an insight into this movie since his style tended to be extremely psychological and methodical.

However, some of the stuff that has built upon Lovecraft (hundreds of stories set in the Cthulhu Mythos or even stuff like Hellboy), have brought in elements such as the gas than infects people, or a whole variety of nasty alien parasites.

that girl is turning into one of them
I think you're right. If you pause at the right moment you can see her body balloon up.

Anyway, who else sees a huge fish looking thing that looks like its really hunched over in this pic? I'm not saying its the monster, just looks like something.

It's definitely the monster, you can see it move in the trailer.

Thats cool - looks quite Godzilla like, though. :| :( Well, the leg/thigh anyway, and further up theres the smoother section which sort of looks like the neck the movie version of Godzilla had (very stubby/fat)

Not saying anything, but I hope it's not.
