A week today, I'm getting some friends round to play some lan games. Theres gonna be around 8-10 of us. Currently we've got the following games:
Doom 3, C&C: Zero Hour, LOTR:BFME, FarCry, Ut2004, Savage:Battle for Newerth, Serious Sam 2, and Quake 3. Anyone have any good suggestions for other multiplayer games for 8-10 people? Doesn't matter what genre.

CS:S, HL2DM, Warcraft 3 (that is especially good with loads of players, 2 big teams fighting against each other), quake 1 deathmatch (can't beat it!)

CoD, Cs 1.6 with warcraft xp mod, Action Quake 2, Total Annihilation (classic), FlatOut and that's about it.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I would very much like to play HL/HL2 and associated mods, but most of the people attending don't actually own steam/HL2. How legal/illegal would it be for me to install steam on their machines, using my own username/password, and playing in offline mode only, for the purposes of a LAN game? I remember some games such as TA encouraged this with the option for a LAN only install (at least I think that was TA) but it seems like a bit of a grey area as far as steam is concerned.

Sacrifice. It's this great game where you're a sorcorer who runs about in third-person firing spells, while ALSO summoning creatures and commanding them RTS-style. And the great thing in regards to LAN parties is that you can install a 'spawned' copy which means you don't need the CD but you can only play multiplayer mode (I think).

Just read a gamespot review of that Sacrifice game. It got 9.4, can't belive I've not ran across it before. Looks pretty awesome, i'll need to get a copy. I'm also downloading all sorts of engine replacements for standard Quake I, adding dynamic lighting and shadows and lots of other visual goodies. Still wondering about that HL2 offline mode lan thing though, if anyone could offer any advice.

Tic-Tac-Toe. Or possibly Rock, Paper Scissors.

Alternatively, Battlefield 2!!!

I very much doubt that will work.

Rainbow Sx 3 Ravenshield, SWAT 4.

^ these games never fail on LAN. great games. on swat4 there is a really fun gamemode called VIP which is not like CS VIP, more complicated, but hella fun. suspects have to capture VIP and not kill him, handcuff him, and keep him for 2 minutes. after which they can execute him. meanwhile, swat has to get him to a safezone. if anyone kills him prematurely they lose. and everyone respawns. fun stuff

Lanning with HL1 playing crowbar tag with levels no where to hide, but u try it anyway.

Zombie Master makes for the ultimate LAN party.

Stop that! You're only making the wait worse! *runs off and cries*

I'd recommend any game listed so far. Any game that uses teamwork (RTS, tactical FPS, pure strategy i.e. Worms) will work extremely well in a LAN setting.
