Is there any music you can think of where it seems like the one(s) who made it seemed to have really really fun making it? A tripped out rocking or just plain weird, or silly, song?

The music that comes to my mind is of course aphex twin, he's even said he always makes music with a smile on his face. Especially the Windowlicker track, it's so damn silly while at the same time being almost genius.

Mylo as well, if you've heard Drop the Pressure you know what I mean. The same can be said about alot of minimal/tech house. 80's music, club stuff.

Alot of 80's heavy metal, Overkill, Iron Maiden (running free! can't listen to it without getting happy and geared up, feel absolutely great) has that kind of spirit. Modern rock as well, I'm not so much into indie but I'm sure some of you could mention quite a few tracks.

I'd always invisioned that Finntroll would have great fun (while not contracting throat tumors and falling off of bridges) making their folk-polka death/black metal crossover. Even if you're not a metal fan, it's suberb fun to listen (and party) to... one of my mates actually went on to describe it as 'shanty pirate metal', which I totally agree on.

So yeah, everyone go and listen to Finntroll.

The Sims 2 music is the only example I can currently think of. It's just impossible not to think of an orchestra with brightly coloured instruments that are playing those catchy tunes :D

Yeah, Finntroll is hilarious to look at (the video's ), they must have had loads of fun mashing those fake instruments lol :p

Every band shouldd have fun while making music, it shouldn't be a chore for them. But for really really fun sounding music I'd go for anything that Les Claypool has been part of. For example, his most famous band part, Primus. Listen to the Sailing the Seas of Cheese for example, or hell, any Primus album, for downright fun.

do you want any specific songs? try "young lust", pink floyd. I can't think of any others, though... but, try ska, especially third or fourth wave, it's generally fast and (I think) very fun.

mighty mighty bosstones
dance hall crashers
the slackers
madness
skadaddyz

and then, some classsic bands like skatalites, toots and the maytals, jimmy cliff.

Clowy Clown Clown by Crispin Hellion Glover.
Get Down, Make Love - NIN.
Livin' in the Sunlight - Tiny Tim (and most songs by Tiny Tim).
Most songs by Ludacris (the rap I actually like; I don't know why, but I like most of his songs).
Most light dance-rave techno songs.

Funny Little Man - Aphex Twin
Mechanical Man - Charles Manson (Wow, haven't heard it in a while.)

Can't really think of much else, it's hard to tell.

Edit:

Gwarek2 - Aphex Twin (Scary and crazy sounds. I imagine someone as disturbed as Richard would have had fun doing that)
Logon Rock Witch - Aphex Twin (Hehe, crazy song)
Powerpill Pacman - Aphex Twin (Who doesn't like remixing classic video game music?)
Tamphex - Aphex Twin (Taking audio from a Tampon commercial and raping it into song form :D)

The majority of Led Zeppelins/ early Bowie sounds like it would've been a blast to record.

"Love for Sale" by Bon Jovi. Legend has it, they recoded it just after going to a wiiild party, and they were all pretty clockfaced.

-Angry Lawyer

Architecture in Helsinki, the GO! Team, and The Boy Least Likely To are all great examples of a band having fun.

Agreed?

Download the song "Tell It To Me" by Old Crow Medicine Show. Very fun tune.

They arent the best Ska band in the world, but I think Mad Caddies are pretty fun.

Oh La La -the wiseguys. Until you get 2 minutes through.

fishbone - party at ground zero has to be the best track ever. :D

I cant remember who did it, but there is a version of 'Party Hard' by Andrew WK, thats mixed in with the vocals to 'Fight for Your Right (To Party)' by the Beastie Boys.

Best. Party. Song. Ever.

That tune that plays when homer simpson visits the chocolate town
