to make a video of hl2, you can use Fraps, which isn't free btw, but there is a demo version that allows you to make 30 second clips. fraps saves the file in an uncompressed AVI file format (can be like 1 gigabyte in size depending how long the video is), but you can compress it with VirtualDub or Windows Media Encoder if you want to make a WMV file. as for hosting the file, thats a little trickier... i dont know of any places where you can upload large videos.. but im sure there are some.
