According to a select few files in the "appcache" folder in your Steam directory, we'll be seeing a few sequel titles from the Sid Meier's Civilization franchise developed by Firaxis, as well as the always entertaining Serious Sam 2 developed by Croteam. The full list of discovered games are:
  • Serious Sam 2
  • Shattered Union
  • Sid Meier's Civilization III Complete
  • Sid Meier's Civilization IV
  • Sid Meier's Pirates!
Is he kidding? Is he lying? You're just going to have to trust me.

Yay!

This'll be the new Pirates, I assume?

same here

Looks like they pulled it. Huh.

Go to your Steam / Appcache folder. Look at the '.pkv. files from number 3900 upwards (ie 3900_app.pkv, 3910_app.pkv etc).

You can use Notepad to open them.

There you have it... Civ, Pirates, all sorts of goodies.

Woah, Valve must be making big bucks allowing companies to sell over Steam. I'm amazed no one else has took on the idea.

ZOMG CIV IV ON STEAM.

Everything is flocking to Valve! GOGOGOGO!

post the full list please - is Armed Assault on it?

I can see Civ IV, Civ III Complete, Sid Meier's Pirates (Arrrrrr!), Serious Sam 2, Shattered Union. (like the parent post, I think)

Later files (4100 onwards) start showing some games which are already on the visible Steam list. Seeing as the invisible games are embedded within visible games, it could be that there are more hidden in there.

At the moment I don't have time to:
a) write a script to look for the 'name' tag in each file, or
b) open them all manually... there is a lot of 'Flashcrap Deluxe II'* in there.

Soon EVERY game will be under Steam. Then Gabe will rule the universe. Mwu-ha-ha-ha-haaaaa.

*Actually I didn't find 'Flashcrap Deluxe II', but Popcap are probably working on it.

So obvious...

thanks, I also found this

Oh, cool. Why did none of us notice that before? So much for digging around in these .pkv files....

BTW I dumped them all to a file and searched the full list of names. So far as I can see the five titles listed earlier is the full list of surprises (though I'm not current on Popcap's entire inventory - they might have a blockbuster up their sleeve).

Civ4 is a probably buy. Too bad the price will be 40 bucks.
The rest on that list is meh.

.bog.

I hope Civ 4 can be registered onto Steam, so my friend can jump onto Steam as well. :D
