G-Man in E3 vid

i don't think he's an alien, i think he has something to do with them though.

If hes an Alien he moved through and conquered the Xen border world because...he knew them? Maybe hes Race X if hes alien at all. I hope its solved in this one and not HL3. God I cant wait for the story of HL2.

I think it is supposed to sound like that. It is a cross between the smoking man from the X-files and Agent Smith from the Matrix.

I like the way the G-Man spoke in the E3 vid's in 2003. He sounds more evil now, but at the same time it looks like he picked up a speech impediment. Change it back Valve.
he doesnt lisp anymore... misssster freeman :(

It almost sounds like he's passing a stone, like speaking english is that tough of a time for him.

I'd just like to point out that the "ssssssss" is not lisping. Lisping is when someone's esses come out like "TH". If the G-Man were lisping, he'd be referring to "Mithter Freeman", and "Thmelling the Ath-hes"...

What he's doing is more like stretching his sibilants...

What does G-man say at the end of the first E3 demonstration? He says something like "I will see you "something something". Please someone tell me what it is! It is very annoying!

Thanks

Mike

IMO, G-Mans speech in the end of Opposing Force is the most creepy thing in a game ever.
"I cannot clossse my report until every loossse end has been tied uppp."
"Whe have desscided to put you ssomeplace where you can do noo posssible harm... and where no harm can come to you. I'm sssure you can imagine, there are worse alternativesss..."

(I think the lord of the rings is dumb and nerdy, but I had to drop that line in there because I saw it on that flash movie.)

You should be dragged out into the streets and shot. :flame: :sniper:

I think it's "I will definately see you up ahead..."

He says 'I WILL see you up ahead' as a reference to what the G-Man says at the end of HL when you step into the portal 'Wisely done Mr Freeman, I will see you up ahead'

Okay, so I was right... minus the "definitely".

Just watched the vid again... even in low-res/high compression, it's awesome...

I think G-Man's voice acting was done by the same person who did Dr. Kleiner's voice. It's just my thought, what do you guys think? :D
yeah I said the same thing a while back, they sound to similar.
but its ok, G-man owns ass

Want to know a secret? Buy it for 15.00$ off of amazon. Just HL 1. Then download steam, click on games. Say you want to dl HL 1. Put in your CD-Key and like magic it lets you download EVERY game except cs:cz and blue shift which isnt even an option. So you basically get the HL1 platinum edition for 15 dollars instead of 30.

or just install steam if you own a copy of HL...
everyone has access to everything except BS, and CS:CZ right now.

I am so going to ban you punks that haven't played Half-Life 1 or the expansions.

Get out!!!!! :E

I was talking to that guy earlier in the thread who hasn't played HL 1. BTW does anyone know why we can't dl Blue Shift from steam? That's kind of gay. I've never played it before =(

I was thinking that this could be the last line of the game (HL2 that is), as he says "that's all for now", perhaps saying that it's time for freeman to go back in stasis or whatever until HL3. This would relate to the end of the first game very well. Alternatively....the line was just made for the demo, as perhaps valve are unlikely to give out the last line!

my appologies senore, and I have no clue why BS isnt available... however it wasnt very impressive.. and extremely short.
I couldnt believe how short it was.
the only nice thing about it was the updated models.

look watch it again. All the sound chopyness and the vid going negative for a while. Its cause you have been asleep/frozen for the last 100 or so years and your spun out when you wake up. He also talks strange as well but. Well just watch it. Its like a dream sequence or something.
Which reminds me of the bit in HL where you get caught by the squadies and dragged down the corridor only to wake up in that crushing machine and excape. Now that was cool!

Briderider: You seem to be right there, except he's only been frozen for like 5 years, not 100!! :D

If you're on about the jump when the G-Man is speaking it does happen on every single recording of the presentation. I've seen two different recordings of it.

yep I can confirm this also I have seen the same presentation from about 4 different sources myself (just to hear if Gabe would say anything different in the presentations.. and he does just nothing of note really)

Thats how he talks... face it half life newbs....
lol
Chris and I were talking about the "stick" in the video after the G-man says "lets just say you're Hour has come aga-aiai-aian" (it sticks on "again", like its loading something and sound is replaying rather than the G-man's cool speech impediment)

to be honest, I LOVE the way the G-man talks.. it makes him the G-man.

In the E3 2003 trailer he talks like everyone else.
But in the E3 2004 presentaion he talks like a machine .

Realy strange ...

Even he wake up from 5 years sleep , i don't find any reason in other presentation he wil talk like a machine ...

I don't think the G-Man's woken up from a five year sleep... I think he's been rather busy...

I believe that stick in the video when he said "aga ai ain" is a skip, but other than that, it's the way G man talks. It really isn't that big of a deal.

we know, the observation was about the stick in the video, not his speech.

he sounds the same as he did in HL/Opforce/E3 2003, that he does now.
I love it.

speaking of which, man they added a lot of detail to the G-man (looks much more realistic than the Binks from last year) in terms of texture clarity, skeen oiliness etc/shaders. very impressive.

Your bullets couldnt kill him because you were never meant to get a good shot at him in the first place, just catch glimpses of him.

ANyways I like his voice and he's a very creepy guy. His speech pattern is very random and he seems very well developed... in the mysterious sense.
Athe place with the Garg i shot him in the head with my magnumn :D

Yeah me too. I beat Half Life plenty of times, and that isn't the usual G-Man speech pattern. It was definately a lot choppier than usual. Wierd.
