G4 Airing Interview With Gabe Newell

G4TechTV is airing a 30 minute long program with interviews with Gabe Newell and a few other VALVe employees, the program will also delve into the story behind Half-Life and Half-Life 2 on Tuesday, November 16th. You can read the full story and find a teaser of the interview here. Note that the files are only available in .wmv format if don't have an Insider account.
 
Well I take G4 is an american channel so that counts me out! Hopefully some people here at the forums will say what Gabe says.

Just to clear things up, and to fix something, it is G4techTV. G4TV and TechTV merged in May 2004. :O
 
lol i like the bit in the vid that shows these forums...

Was anyone else laughing hysterically while the whole video was playing?
I love how they turn it into a horribly-kick-yourself-in-the-nuts 20/20 style documentary with random footage of people's hands typing,
the moving spotlights over certain web pages, and the "suspenseful music."

It appears that G4techTV will not be showing a 4 minute interview with the employees at Valve.

Better yet, to [get] you amped about it, we've got a four minute clip showing off some of the interviews with Gabe Newell and company up at Valve in Seattle. The clip includes Newell describing the Half-Life 2 code leak and how they worked with fans to catch the thief, which I'm sure we're all interested in whether you're a fan of Half-Life or not.

If the whole G4techTV segment is 4 minutes long, I hardly see how IGN managed to get a clip of the segment that is 4:09. Perhaps the Valve segment is the entire 30-minute block? We can only hope (although a half hour is a tad too long for us to be away from our precious copies of Half-Life2, especially on launch day :p )

The G4techtv network fired some very good people from "The Screen Savers" and "Unscrewed" on Nov 11th 2004. I know some of you dont get these shows overseas but they were the portal of a tech community here is the states and it was sad to see executives from a media giant act in such a corporate way that most techs have learned to hate.. the big wigs that only care about money and "networking" with other company's and making them happy seem to be a strong form of "sell out" and for that I cant settle for paying thier bills when they have directly inpacted something that was important to me in my and other people's lives.


Well I've officially been let go... along with a bunch of other people from TSS and three other shows. Kevin and Sarah are the only ones left on screen and I don't know what they are planning to do with them. The Screen Savers as you know it is GONE! We were rounded up today at 11am and told to be out of the office at 3pm... very smooth... So I wanted to take this time to say, Thank you... thank you to all of you who gave me the chance to enter your living rooms five days a week and try my best to make you smile. You, the fans of TSS, really made me feel like a million bucks. I know it was hard for some of you to see Patrick go, but I really appreciate you all giving me a chance. I just wish I could have more time to get to know you all...

It has been one of the best experiences of my life... Thank you...

Dealt only with the leak. Definitely not as informative as the Gamespot article.

But yes, gotta love the random hand waving, keyboard typing, operatic music, and the G-man superimposed on the FBI logo. :afro:
 
although i don't really like G4TV since they ruined TechTV.... I'll still have to take a gander at this....

What TIME of day is it on the 16th?

oh my god, i didnt realize you were alex. This news about the firings at TSS surprises and dismays me. Yoshi is gone as well???

this is NOT going to be good for the show.

the one show on G4tech tv i loved most was TSS, and i LOVED how you all worked together, your chemistry was what made that show.

Good luck in your future, you all will be missed by your fans.

Yoshi is gone? Wait...I see him on the show almost every day...
 
TSS was the best show and now that G4 just shited on people who work there. Its not right at least let the people who got canned have a last show o say good-bye to their fans and co-wokers. G4 will see a large drop in their ratings and I think the show will have G4 rejects on it. All the shows are the same and they have the same two host on every show. I mean how many game review shows do u need? Only The ScreenSavers, Xplay and G4TV.com and the Pulse, Cinematech, Filter are good shows and the rest should get caned forever! :borg:

I don't think I've turned to G4TV and it wasn't showing a 5-minute-long block of commercials. I sometimes think they air 20 minutes of commercials for every 10 minutes of programming.
