I never said it wasn't real, I just thought it was shoddy design!! It looks very legit in the other photo's tho. Still, I won't hold my breath too long to see what it says. Holding my breath for 23 days won't be healthy!! By then we will have had the gold announcement for sure (and thus it will obviously be a review).

The fact that they used basic text, a common font, used grammar incorrectly and the picture was taken in a way that made it look like it was slapped on as a photoshop in two seconds would make many think that it was a fake. Don't tell me that looking at that picture, you'd 100% doubt that it was a forgery? I simply wouldn't believe it.

Don't worry man, if you can hold it in your hands, it is real, (applicable to HL2 also), I happen to also be a graphics artist, and in order to crete such a forgery, i.e. the multiple pics, that would be a vary time consuming process, (text warping, glare, reproducing the magazine texture, color match, etc...) way to much time, it would be easier to create a forgery some other way in some other type of media...

I said in my other post that I now know it's real, but I was just making the point that given the circumstances, it's hard to believe it could have been real in the first place without proper evidence.

yeah there is no ' in the word "it's" but id put it down to a simple typing error. it would have to be one careless but awesome forgery if it was fake. the picture doesnt have ay tell tale joins or seem where something has been copied and pasted, the font is italic and is across the page taking into account not only the italic style and the curvature of the page, but also the mirror image of the opposite page of the magazine, with said page curving in a smooth arc that hasnt been edited or been pasted over the top.

i dont believe someone who had photoshop skils that good could forget to spell "it's" correctly. so to answer your question no i wouldnt 100% doubt that its not a forgery, but in the current situation halflife2fans find themselves in, i dont think anyone could not question any peice of information or any image that surfaces these days, what with people hacking valve forum accounts, stealing the "beta" last year and the company's inability to stick to dates, timetables and the like.anything that comes out needs to be verified, i just think in this case its just more likely that somebody got sloppy when making the advert than it is that someone could produce such a convincing fake(save for typos)

It's funny. If it wasn't for the slack design and editing of the magazine, we wouldn't be so sceptical! Says a lot for PCPP magazine!!

I didnt see this posted so please dont bring out the rope. I thought it was interesting that gabe would post over at firearms. It sas Gabe Newell and has the VALVE SOFTWARE as part of the tag.

Back to the original topic here, I can tell you for sure that the Gabe you see posting there is indeed fake. I'm a super-moderator on those forums coincidentally.
