I needed DivX and it wouldn't let me install it without installing this Gain Ad Software. It gives me random pop-ups whenever I'm looking at web pages and its getting really annoying. I tried to uninstall it but I can't find where it install to. Has anyone else had this problem and been able to get rid of Gain but not DivX? If so how do I do it?

download a spyware blaster/ ad-aware program, deletes it right away, while still keeping ur fun divx :-D
u know u can download the divx codec package, without player, and use windows media player instead.

If I uninstall Divx then download and install the Codec will it get rid of GAIN?

Oh yea, I need to buy a new Anti-Virus program since this is a new computer and I was looking at Norton Anti-Virus 2004 and it says it gets rid of SpyWare. Would this get rid of GAIN or is that just considered ADware.

Uninstall the Gain Ad software version of DivX, download SpyBot Search & Destroy, run the entire spyware check, clean out all the spyware, and install the Standard DivX Codec

And no, uninstalling DivX and installing the standard codec won't kill the spyware, do yourself a favor, get Spybot, one of the best (if not the best) spyware removal programs out there :)

Enjoy

i have gain on my computer but it can do nothing, i set my firewall to block anything by it, so it never bothers me at all.

There should be some trace of it in the start/programs bar and in add/remove programs but being spyware...i would really get an anti-spyware program.

Kazza lite's website has some great ad-free codecs for popular programs like Real One, Quicktime, and others. I think the DivX codec is in their generic codec pack too. No spyware on any of it either, and it doesn't suck up resources like the actual programs do.
