Game Crashing

I play HL2 on a PC that is not connected to the Internet. I have been playing the game for a while and have got quite far in the game. However recently I am now unable to load or save games. Everytime I try I get this message.

Source -Fatal Error:

Could not aquire necceary game files because connection to Steam server was lost.

I've tried re-installing the game but the same thing happens.

Sounds like your version of HL2 isn't complete and Steam HAS to have connection to the internet to complete it.

Try taking your computer to a friend who does have (preferably broadband) internet and plugging it in there.

the game allows you to play even though you havent fully updated to 100%
so that means you are missing game files that didnt fully download the first time
sorry to tell you but you must connect and update again

Oh, and to be 100% safe, after updating everything, validate.
