Game Glich! Please Help

I have just begun playing HL2. I have been having trouble with the A.I in the game. When I am playing I get to a certain point in the game when the A.I needs to either attack me or get me through to a new part in the level and they just won't respond. I am in part 1 of the canals where you had to turn the red wheel to get the water to rise. After you got to the other side of the bars you had to brake the planks to let the boxes up to get onto the ledge. After all that you had to climb up the ladder and then jump down into the tunnle. When I get here there are supposed to be 2 police guys that drop down from the ceiling and manhacks that are supposed the attack me but they don't. They don't move at all. I can shoot and kill them but this does not help me out because the A.I still does not respond later in the game.

Please try to help me. I have read different forums and searched for patches but still no luck. Please try to figure out where i am in the game. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

try typing notarget or ai_disable in console, make sure you have a retail version of the game. If you have a pirated version then don't bother trying to get it to work, cuz it won't.

Okay, just to check your game could you take a screenshot with 'f5' of you just starting to sprint in the game, so we can see the 'aux power' bar. To find the screenshot look in your email folder, then HL2, in the screenshots folder funnily enough. Typing Ai_disable 0 in console should work.

Ok, When I typed Ai_disabled I got the A.I to work. I now have a different problem I am at the point where they should I think equip my jetski type thing with guns. I got the A.I to work there but now they won't do what i think they are supposed to do. I can't get past this part.

Did you follow that guy throught the door so he can give you the briefing?
after he gives you the briefing the gun should be on the boat(vortigaunt aplied it when u were in the room)

I will go back and see. Thier where only three people that I saw. The girl that was standing on the side. The guy who was standing on the bridge, and the one-eyed alien type thing that was holding the lever.

I went back and checked but they do not take me into the room. I am very confused and hope someone knows what is wrong. No one moves from where I told you before. The girl open ups the door the guy walks over onto the bridge and then they do not do anything after this and Ai_disable does not work. The A.I notices me but they do not do any thing. I see the alien with the gun but he does not move either.

Please Help.

I notice you have a 'Q' for a crosshair, which is a known bug. So i can assume you have several errors going on in your Halflife 2 files. You shouldnt have that Q, i wouldnt put up with it. Okay what you'll need to do isnt too complicated at all, you should try validating your halflife 2 files firstly to clean them up of errors, than you'll have a good crosshair, and hopefully sort out your node graph things. (not sure what it means but something to do with things going wrong i assure you). One minute and i'll find the link for you.

edit: Here are the commands to put into the 'run' option in your start menu. You'll only need the HL2 one, but if you have problems with other valve games then you can use them as well.

Ok, I ran steam://validate/220 for HL2 and it brought up steam and validated it. This fixed my crosshairs now thank you. Now the A.I will respond to a certain point but as I said earlier they don't move after they let me through the gate. I am at the part where they are supposed to give me the gun for the airboat. They let me through the gate but after that no one does anything. A.I_Disabled does not fix this problem. And it stilll says my, "Node graph is out of date....rebuilding."

What is (HL2DM)?

I figured out how to get past the part I was stuck at. I restarted the cannals level all over again. This fixed my whole problem.

HL2DM is Halflife 2 Deathmatch, its an online multiplayer which comes as well as Counter Strike Source. It was a suprise release by valve they sneakily kept it quiet. Its totally free with Halflife 2, check it in the 'play games' list and download the game files for free, and play it sometime, its good fun. (You can use the gravity gun to kill people if you like that kind of thing).
