Game length?

I nver rush through, its a waste of a game i reckon. We have all been looking forward to it so long, im gonna cruise through, be tactical, explore and basically take it easy. First time is always the best.

Fuzzy: Exactly :D Why stress? (unless that is the point cuz of some bet you made or something) :)

Actually, just playing with "source's" fun stuff (the "grabber" for example) and throw stuff away into water etc is gonna be neat! Test the engine that is! Gonna be fun!

I didn't like HL1, I ended up typing exit in the console half way through the intro :/ yesterday I stuck god mode on and completed the game for the first time, took about 3 - 4 hours :D

I only did this so I could understand the plot a bit more.

I hate these games that come out today with <20 hours of gameplay, that's really sad, and i won't pay for such a game, at least not until it hits the bargin bin. Seems the average game length has been going down steadily as less developers are actually in it for making a great game than are in it for the money. The publishers don't help either. The games market is flooded with games released too early, with not enough testing, and not enough actual gameplay to warrent buying.

Now in a market with educated consumers this wouldn't be a problem. People would wait for reviews of a game before they buy, but too many of the people who buy games are kids who are *not* smart consumers, and so they spend their money countless times on games that don't deserve it, perpetuating the cycle of lazyness by the publishers/developers.

Guys like VALVe are very hard to find these days.

i asked gabe, he said ABOUT the same length as HL1, i was kinda surprised?

I tell ya Tutorial will take something about 10 hours...lol
I am going to play tutorial for 2 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! because everytime i'll see this graphic and stuff my mind will blow up into pieces so i must count the time when I'll put myself together into one piece!!!!!!!:bounce:

Sorry for flame, but that last sentence must be the most idiotic I've ever heard! Myself when I play I wanna explore etc, and that adds alot of extra hours compared to playing just going to goal! (seen the movie where this dude finnish Quake1 in about 12 mins?)

First time experience cant be saved! (meaning that if you "go to goal" and then decides to explore, it wont be the same, although the new explored areas are.. well, first time you beeing there.. :) )

Im talking about your fastest possible time here. I too like too explore and take my time.

dude... bullshit, even now if i rush it i will be done by 10 hours...

no way you did accomplish the game in 6 hours on the first time

Actually, i did beat it in 6 hours. Give or take 30 min. Did it ever cross your mind that i could be better then you at it? It wasnt my first time either, it was like the 3rd time...sorry if i said first time somewhere.

Well obviously different people play differently so 30-40 hours doesn't mean that much. Valve was talking about how NPC's will decide to give you the full dialogue or just a sentence of important info depending on how you're acting. They also said a battle can be fought like Rambo or like Mcguyver(sp?). It took me a week to beat HL1.

talk about a long game, how about Dues Ex eh? Not just beating it, but exploring all 3 endings *drool*.
