Hiya. Am doing a goodbye run through all three. Done all many times, and now it's worn thin, but want my daughter to see it. But, just loaded a saved game and began playing. Played for about half an hour, got killed a few times, saved several games. Mostly loaded by right-click after dying, but am convinced I loaded some via the menu. Then reached a point where I chose Load from the Esc menu, and the top saved game was where I began this evening's session. Nothing like this has ever happened before. If it matters, I'm just about to jump over the railing into the very large toilet area where a big dragon monster (can't remember their name, like the one that the Vortigern sucked the essence from after the coast run) is about to bash the double doors down.

Advice appreciated.

Me again. I may have found the answer to this. The system time/date was Sept 2009.

Now, I have to find out why the system time is going awry.

Taa.

Changing the date appeared to work, but a subsequent Load took us to several Saves back. We were able to go beyond the past last save, but subsequent saves were not saved. So the problem still exits.

Even tried Overwriting previous Save. Didn't work. Any ideas appreciated.

Use it.

Hello Vegeta897. Thank you for your reply. Could you expand on the, "Use it"? I am unsure what the "it" is, and I don't know how I should actually make use of the "Use" you recommend. Thanks.

Vegeta if he used the edit button the thread wouldn't show back up in the new posts list.

JayScore, if you go to the list view in your Steam library (the middle one of the three in the upper-right part of the window) is there a little cloud icon next to Half-Life 2 on your list? Is there a question mark next to the cloud?

This sounds like it could be a Steamcloud issue. Steamcloud is a system that is supposed to automatically upload your save files to Valve's servers to back them up. This is so that if you log onto Steam from a new PC it redownloads your saves and you don't lose them. This could have been caused by the save files not saving to the cloud properly and then Steam redownloading an old version of the saves for some reason.

Something that may also help get back to where you were. Launch Half-Life 2, go to the options menu and go to they Keyboard tab. There should then be a button for Advanced Options. Click this and then tick the option that says Enable Developer Console. Select ok to save this setting. Then there's a special button to launch the console. It's usually the button bellow Esc (it can be different if you have a non-English keyboard).

When the console pops up type into it the following (without quotes):
"sv_unlockedchapters 15"

This should unlock all chapters from the New Game menu so you can start closer to where you were.

Oh then I guess nobody should ever use the edit button ever again, because bumping your thread twice in an hour is cool now. The first bump was okay since it was the next day, but the next 2 were totally useless and it's clear he isn't aware of the edit function.
