Half-Life 2 is very quickly becoming everybody's Game of the Year and the readers at GameArena are certainly no exception.[br]

Coming out with another four awards, Half-Life 2 has this time won:

Developer of the Year (Valve Software)[br]
Best First Person Shooter[br]
PC Game of the Year[br]
Best Game of 2004

That's right, Half-Life 2 has beaten titles such as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and World of Warcraft to the winning spot with nearly 50% of people's votes.[br]

It is, but not in the same sense as a plain GOTY. A PC GOTY only has to win over all the pc games. A plain GOTY has to win over ALL games created in 2004.

Despite all the things that have happened, a great many people still love Valve regardless. So while it may be questionable, it isn't that surprising.

They have made some mistakes but Valve has made a very good game and they listen too the HL2 community really well. And they fix bugs fast compared to most other developers. They released HL2 DM after seeing how many people complained about the absence of it. And Valve is the developer of Steam which is a fantastic concept. It still had some problems during the release of HL2 with installing it but the people of Valve have have improved Steam a lot in a year. So when HL3 is released it will be nearly bugfree . I'm glad HL2 can compete with consolegames like GTA SA and Halo 2 when it comes down to popularity (and quality of course).

GA is the gaming arm of BigPong (Tel$tra) the ISP. Major rip off as an ISP with incredibly unfair stranglehold on the local infrastructure. GA is the only good thing about Tel$tra.

And as if HL2 isn't anything else but the greatest game ever made. I have now played it 5 times over and still it's so enjoyable.

Gamearena is also known as GayArena, Craparena and LagArena, depending on what server you're in, and the llama population heh

Ahh so your from Aust. What ISP? I'm with Internode...great plans there.

Node servers also tend to rock even though I'm in Melb and sometimes get better pings with GA servers!

I really didn't realise GA was regarded aroud the world!

Heh, I don't see why people complain about GA. Servers always work great for me. Though I am surprisingly lucky in that department.
