Gameplay oddity

Have played this game many, many times (years). Am doing it again with my youngest grandaughter - my eldest and I played it many times. But I have hit a wall - literally.
We are at the see-saw concrete pipe where we have to load the breeze blocks to change the balance. Nothing I have done has allowed me to jump the gap. I have done this bit hundreds of times without any problem, but now, this load, I just keep hitting the wall. This is obviously a glitch. But how do I get through it? Anyone know? Anyone know of similar glitches, and how they got around them? I don't want to remove and reinstall, but without responses, I will have to.

I have started from several saves back - same problem. I have started from stratch - same problem. I have loaded all the bricks. I have loaded some of the bricks - same problem.

Any advice appreciated.

If you want an easy work around, try going into options, click "Advanced" and check the tab that says "Enable Developer's console," and when you press the ` key, above Tab, you'll get a screen with lots of text to pop up. Type in "sv_cheats 1" without quotes, and enter it, then type in "noclip" without quotes and enter it, and now you can fly anywhere you want without walls, or "clipping" blocking your path. You can go anywhere, literally. To turn it off, go back to the console, and hit the up arrow, this will bring up previous lines of text, from last to earliest. You can also just type in noclip again, or "sv_cheats 0" and cheats will turn off.

To actually fix this problem, try right clicking the game in your steam list, click properties, and click "verify integrity of game cache," and it will fix any corrupted files, or download missing ones for the game. Good luck!

Also, if you want some more cheats, or to spawn things in the game, there are a lot of cheats to find on google for the source engine. Of course, sv_cheats has to be set to 1 for these to work, but they can be quite fun to play with.

I remember that puzzle on my PC, which was very easy and on the xbox which felt atrocious. Any human in real life would have simply scaled the wall by hand. thats why i wish games had one or two options for every puzzle because some puzzles have more than one solution

The only FPS I've played with a good and sensible climbing mechanic is amazingly Invisible War. The one thing the game improved on from Deus Ex (well, that and the combat) never caught on in other games.

To, specifically, vegeta897, but also to anyone else who noticed the deliberate mistake. Ooops. I did make it evident that I am a grandad. Memory loss goes with age; no, actually, it comes with age. So whip me. I errored; but gently, and with a community spirit. Instead of looking for bad things to hammer me with, can you just come up with a solution, please. Sorry gramps, but nobody here said anything to "hammer" you. Function9 suggested you might be a bot, because bots typically repost random stories and such to avoid detection. Nobody else said anything about you. Vegeta's post was just expressing his confusion. Of course, now that you've posted an abrasive response for absolutely no reason, you can expect quite a few posts making fun of you being a weirdo jerk.

Anyways, I've got to get back to working on Ep3. To be honest, I didn't even realize I was supposed to be working on it since I thought Valve had it covered.
