I'll be getting Vista in a couple of months. :D
I think that it's been out long enough, so most of the problems people had with it should be fixed.

I just hope I won't have incompatibility issues up the ass.(ie: being unable to play BF1942, Battle for Middle-Earth 2, Call of Duty: UO, Diablo 2)

AFAIK those games should all work. D2 does anyway. The only problems that have arisen that I've seen with older games would be visual themes and desktop composition. Disable them in compatibility options, and perhaps run in XP mode and you should have no problems at all.
 
XP is to be supported until 2014, you won't have to for long after 7.

I meant my office machines but whatever. I like a lot of the stuff that is happening under the hood but it isn't quite there yet.
 
I can vouch for Vista being a perfectly capable OS, been using it nearly a year now and I rarely encounter problems, and never a severe one. A far cheaper option than buying a console, though I did wind up doing that too.
