Games keep minimizing

For no reason at all my games keep minimizing to the desktop, they don't crash, all I have to do is maximize it and it will be back to normal but with any game on steam my screen is black when I get back into the game. Anyone know why my games would keep minimizing? It happens with a lot of different games and for no reason at all.

It usually something in the background is possibly running. I remember back when I did the @Home folding thing the damn program kept trying to minimize anything that took up the entire screen. Just make sure you don't have any background programs running.

I have stuff like aim, nforce tray, zone alarm, ati thing, steam, and winamp but they are all in the tray thing.

What about programs in your task manager-> processes tab? Anything suspicious in there?

Yep, most likely something in the background.

I had a firewall that did that but I don't think zone alarm has ever done that to me.
