Games Missing for 10 min?

Every time HL2 crashes, I reboot and all of my games need to be redownloaded. Although I close Steam, come back, and they are back. No real complaints at all, just curious, anyone else gettin this to? If so, fixes? I searched, found nothing, sorry if I searched incorrectly.

well depends, css crashes a few times more then HL2 does...same thing happens. But my CSS crash has to do with opening a friends window while I'm in game, to someone ELSE in game. I gotta reboot after that \=

i get that as well in CSS, theres shit loads of files missing for it if you check the console (mostly sounds) which i dont understand. ive validated my files lots. I can just about bring my pc back after that crash, but it sucks. Just stay off friends, but i want a fix!!!!!!!

it sucks if your an impatient person. I'm patient, so if my games are unavalable for a few min, I'm cool, I'll just play my Sonic Mega Collection!!

the sound files is just a mistake by the developers. i found a post somewhere on it that they renamed the folders wrong and the files are somewhere else in the gcf files

I get a lot of those missing sounds in cs_office.

They "shouldnt" cause you to crash.
