we cant just not comment on the rediculous job gs did on scoring, not everyone in the world knows as much as we do about half life 2. so some people will look at the review and say " we might as well just play halo"
I believe the reason people have been complaining for its is just natural. Here are 2 shooters which both have in many ways share the same formula (hi-tech suit, fighing aliens, etc.), both have claims to be the sequal to the best shooter ever, both called great innovators in games, and each one is comming in a week distance. I wouldn't find it much a surprise if some comparison is put up. Yes, they are on different console so they don't compete in sales nor compete in quality and many claimes console shooters are rated higher due that the idea console of shooters are not as good but that doesn't matter they are comparing the 2 shooters. I will probably compare the 2 games too once i get to play them.
They are complaing that the review seem a bit, well, not very positive or great praise. If you look at h2 they say a few negatives but also a few positives such as the duel wielding...
Then look at the hl2 review they said negatives that was far worse then h2. One for example is that both reviews said they didn't modify the formula that much (h2 said "if it ain't broken , don't fix it) but they seem to bash hl2 more on it (hl2 said "breaks little new ground" which sounds more negative) Another is both reviews said the story is an disappointment (ending mostly) and that ai is very good but not godly great as both tried to claim but hl2 seem to be hurt more by that as h2 was let go saying the action was great. They called hl2 nothing new while basicly ignoring the squads feature and facial expressions. Basicly it seem that gamespot seem to point out flaws that others called strengths which seem to be the same flaws as h2 but seem to hurt hl2 more. It jsut out of place as on other reviews it broke records in score and making scores that only a few other great while gamespot make it look like such an average great game instead of a great classic in the making.
For my opinion I see them as both great games and I love to play and enjoy them both. Inside I will devollp opinions to which is better but that just me.
If you look at ratings at gamespot half life 2 is rated 9.0, and
8.45% of the rates are abysmal! That's the crappiest score you can give a game at gamespot.. :stare: maybe the halo fanboys is rating it or something..
