Not sure if this is posted but if you check the main Gamespot page it has a countdown to the review. There are too many threads here to search. Less then 3 hours! Predictions?

The highest review is 9.6 for PC (Diablo). Yeah, we'll see.

still i dont need no gamespot to convince me this will be the greats game ever.

post the score here cuz I'm not gonna read that for spoilers and screenshots

yeah gamespot are known for the odd spoiler as well :naughty:

Probably 9.5 or 9.6. I assume. I'm going to read the first paragraph or so - but they have the stupid tendency to post spoilers occasionally, so I'll save the full reading for later.

EDIT: But for your own sake people, don't get your expectations too high. What I'm afraid of is all those people who are saying "I know this will be the best PC Game ever anyway", etc., they can ave too high expectations. It's really dangerous and can lead to a big disappointment. Let's face it, as much as HL2 is going to be great, there are going to be some things there that are not perfect.

How do they review it if steam will not activate it for them? Do they get a special copy that no one else gets that does not need to be activated? And I am amazed that a OEM version hasn't been leaked, thereby negating all of this activation crap.

That's a really good point! I guess they have a special Steam account that will be disabled after the review?

They probably reviewed the game at Valve HQ just like everyone else, they just havent been allowed to release reviews until now. I dont know that for a fact but i reckon thats what happened seeing as there have been no online reviews for the game that i'm aware of.

I can't imagine that Valve wouldn't have ability to unlock certain individuals' Steam accounts and allow reviewers to play the game that way. That's kind of a huge part of a system like this!

PS - Where is this countdown? I'm not seeing it on gamespot's main page anywhere...

No they probably could, but i cant see why they would want to, purely for security reasons. If your making magazine reviewers fly out to your hq to review the game, why would you all of a sudden start letting online reviewers unlock theyre copies days before it meant to be unlocked for everyone?

So that all of the reviews will be out close to the time that the game comes out.

It's not really a big security concern because all reviewers of games are required to sign a non-disclosure agreement stating that they will not mention anything about the game or release their review until a specified time and date. Valve would put a stipulation that if the reviewer's steam account was compromised, the reviewer would be breaking the NDA and held accountable. Reviewers would be extremely careful not to allow this to happen.

The reason the reviews that are already out were based on playing the game at Valve HQ is because all of those reviews were written before the game went gold. Valve wouldn't allow the game to be played outside of their offices in a pre-gold state, but now that it has gone gold, online reviewers can play the final version over Steam as I mentioned above. No expensive trips needed and the full capabilities of Steam can be taken advantage of!

Yeah maybe your right, i dunno though i really wouldnt be surprised at all if Gamespot and all theother online publications reviewd the same code as the magazines did.

Pc Gamer had their review a while ago, they gave it 97percent, their highest rating of a game yet!
