Gamespy hosts 'Official' Screenshots.

ITs funny because 80% of the new screen shots released, are screen shots of the same exact maps (except for a few minor improvements) that were in the long ago leaked Hl2 BETA.... Valve had plenty of time to add a few new things to the beta... hmmmmm somthing sounds fishy to me....

I really think that valve is lying about how much of hl2 is actually finished.....

I don't think the graveyard has been seen yet. And that new helicopter doens't ring a bell either.

If Apocalypse is right and most of the screens are from locations in the beta then perhaps the reason is because Valve still wants things to be a surprise. Why release screens from some completely new place when you could just take pictures of places in the beta and still get the same wow effect.

Sorry just glanced over your initial post.

But i'd have to agree with The Mullinator, I want the suprise. I want to install Half-Life 2, and just sit there in awe at whats going on on my screen.

p.s. 2 new screenshots out of a total of 9 is still 22% new material thus we are left with 78% old material, not 80
 
last I heard, the beta only had a few levels...

now, last I heard, the full game takes the play testers 30+ hours to RUN though....and over 40 first time....
 
Yeah but you heard all the play testing info from gabe who also was quoted many times that Hl2 was going to be released in late September 2003.....

Nicely edited post. The first screenshot with the pistol indeed appears identical to stuff seen in the beta, there are 2 shots there that appear to be greatly updated and finished versions of maps only seen with basic geometry in the beta, there are 3 screenshots that are completely new extensions of stuff seen in the beta, and the other 4 are completely new material.

Apart from this the models and other art assets seem to have come a long way, valve has done a huge ammount of work since the content in the beta was stolen.

Although i still think the creation of these screenshots is spread over the last year, there are certain inconsistancies between them, things changing over the months, that sort of thing, I think we will need to wait for E3 to see the latest build in action.

My conspiracy theory:
These HQ screenshots you can on the DVD-ROM in the german PC Games or PC Action 06/04. One of the "visitors" of HL2.de, who has bought on Tuesday one these magazines with the mentioned DVD, has sent these screenshots to them and the HL2.de crew published them for all user. But now/tonight they had to remove all these new high resollution pics - because these pics are under NDA.
PS: The mentioned visitor could be a subscriber of PC Games and has got the new PC Games on monday.

Oh, crap. The pics which two I recall from the leak, not beta, don't show the improvement of A.I. nor physics, neither the sound and a whole lot more of what a game is made of over the last year. So stop discussing things that cannot be discussed.

A huge map pack with levels was released during the leak.
