yes like a week after I was supposed to

Boo, the games industry is all about buy outs right now :/

So wait...will GAME be re-named in the UK? I remember them replacing EB stores with GAME all over the place.

Best Buy and Frys are best for gettting Games in the US I dont know about UK.

No, GAME bought all the EB stores in the UK, they are a separate company. And as negotiations finished today on the potential buy-out, it looks like they'll stay that way.

It hate them both.
They don't check their used games or used peripherals at all.
I needed some goods for my old PS1.
A controller with thumbsticks and rumble tech.
And good action / racing games.
So I got a controller, worked the first night...then it just started getting unresponsive.
Bought Driver 1 and Resident Evil 1...Put them in the PS, the wouldn't work.
Turns out they both had a HUGE ****ing scratch going around the entire cd.
I wasted about $30, and couldn't get a refund.
****ing ****s, I hope they go out of business.

Our's around here don't actually differ really at all in price or stock, although I like the staff at Gamestop a lot better than our local EB.
As for used stuff, thats on a store-by-store basis. I've bought a number of used discs from local shops here with no issues.

EB games is definitly more expensive and a general nuissance to deal with. I bought UT2k4 for $60 at EB while I coulda got it at Best Buy for $50. I tried to turn it back in for store credit or something (Because I got bored with the game like 5 days after buying it) and they would have given me $15 for it. Yeah, I'm not buying any more games made by anyone other than Valve. Actually, if it doesn't have the title "Half-Life" somewhere on the box, I've trained my eyes to not receive light from those objects.

yeah game dont take back pc games at all anymore, even if their not out of the box yet,i brought back 1 game in its original packaging and they wouldnt refund me,dont shop there anymore, they put up their pc games prices too to just 5 euros below a console game, virgin have good bargains these days so i go in there often

This is pretty bad.

Basically, Gamestop no longer has any competition, and can charge us through the roof for used games (while giving even closer to nothing to those who trade them in).

Plus, I always liked the crazy Christmas sales that EB had. Doom 3 for $20 when it was still in its heyday.

I also got UT2k4 Special Edition for negative $10 through a crafty combo of gift certificates and rebates! :bounce:

GAME are well expensive and a rip off, i never shop there. good ol' play.com for me :)

Monopolies are bad. Prices will rise. Game Sales will fall.
I <3 Valve although they dont take my credit card, atleast they've done something.

Theres certainly still competition out there for Gamestop. Think about how many places you can pick up a game.

But not in that particular niche, particularly used software. Well, at least in my town, that's how it is.

Tell me about it, I was so happy getting Hl2, when I opened the box I got everquest 2...
