I think the cops should lift the laws protecting chavs and allow people to organize vigilante groups to go chav hunting.

Kind of weird. Gang activity here is more business aligned. You don't see random acts of violence in a gang sense- usually there was a precursor to them doing something to someone. Innocent casualties here are innocent people getting caught up in crossfire or mistaken. I find random mob attacks really weird though.

It's been around for decades, and the 'disorganized' nature of the thing is inherent. This is pretty awful, but it's not new. Apart from happyslapping, the only 'new' thing about these violent attacks is the word 'chav', and even that had been around for ages before it dropped into the public vocabulary
