Fans of Garry's MOD will be happy to see there have been multiple updates revolving around Garry's MOD. To start, the GMod development team is currently developing Version 8 of the MOD. What is so exciting about Version 8, you say? Gmod switched to the HL2DM code, which means less lag for online play. Another exciting addition will be Faceposer, which allow you to reposition different facial features.

Here are some screenshots that were taken with GMod V8 demonstrating some new features.[br]

[br]Also, GMod's website has been updated with a brand spanking new template. For more information on the soon to be released GMod V8, visit the website.

Garry'sMod is the first great Source mod. Plus it just keeps getting better :D

Yes, this new update is shaping up to be a very excellent one, indeed. I am really excited for the Faceposer addition, because think of the possibilities :p

Why does the third screenshot have any significance?

It's a picture of dm_runoff...the new map....with bloom.

It looks like it's showing off a DoF blurring post-effect and light blooms around bright areas... but that could easily be the work of Photoshop. If they are faked effects I have no idea why they would be showing that one. I mean, we know what the new maps looks like already.

I love these updates, but i have a feeling all these tools are just going to get confusing. I already have enough trouble.

I kinda hate Gary's Mod. I've installed and uninstalled the thing 3 times now. I guess I'm just not creative enough for it. I play with it for a while, bounce people in strings, position people in funny ways...and then get bored. I can't for the life of me think up any sort of funny screenshot ideas...

wo to he who doesn't get the most popular HL2 mod.

only reason i would use it is to get those cool effects on screenshots

Its not a faked effect, it will be included in V8. Check here: http://halflife2.filefront.com/news/Garrys_Mod_v8_Screenshots;17791

Below are a couple of shots of something I added recently. Bloom. You can turn it on and mess with the settings any time you want using the menu. I plan to add a few post processing shaders like this - just to make the pictures of Barney falling off a bike more interesting to look at.

I can't for the life of me see why people are so obsessed with this mod...
It's not even remotely entertaining...

Maybe it's time for this game to have some kind of co-operative multiplayer mode?

Like you have to construct a ....something to do something.

it looks cool but i dont really like garrys mod, it isnt a bad mod but it gets boring after like a day of playing around...

Yeah - that's exactly what we're going to do.

In the playtests we've been having fun making our own games.

One game we've been playing is explosive barrel tennis. We build a net then throw an explosive barrel at each other - trying to kill the other player. But you can catch it and throw it back. It's pretty fun but obviously wouldn't work on public servers unless you could trust the other player to play properly.

One of the guys is working on a sledge type map. The idea being that you'll have 3 minutes (or whatever) to build a slegde.. the gates will open and you'll race down the hill. (Version 8 has a mode where you can change the friction on objects to make them really slippy)

Another one I have in my mind is a kind of robot wars mode. Either a sumo mode or some kind of assault course.

One of the guys is also working on a single player map that I found pretty interesting. (More problem solving than shooting people).

So yeah. One of the things that's going to be hard is finding a way to force people to play together - since these games would be pretty easily ruined if there's an asshole on your team that keeps setting everything to invisible.

Garry's Mod is made for the creative people.

Non-creative people have nothing to do in garry's mod.

Imagine Half-life 2 without garrys mod. Think about all the "Pic of the day's"
a LOT would not be possible without Garry's Mod! :)

True, Garry's mod is now a real part of HL2 and I can't imagine what things would be like if there was no Garry's mod.

That's ****ing awesome stuff gary, keep at it.

For tards who want to tard around, advance the votekick feature. Have a little menu with all your team mates names, and you could maybe imprison the tard. Literally. Enough votes to "Imprison the tard" and it happens. They get locked up in a little jail and have to watch the game. I don't know....just throwing ideas around.

Being a solid fan of Gmod (used it since v3), I thought Face Poser was already included in v7?

I was wondering when there would be a new version.

Those effects are Photoshopped I'd say.

GarrysMod is alright but sometimes you do get bored. REAL bored.

Creativity is best placed elsewhere, like making a mod of your own, but if it's fun then do it! There's no point giving people who enjoy this mod a hard time or saying it's boring because they clearly disagree.

Why would they release photoshopped screenshots? It's not really amazing effects, they've got enough popularity already, and upon release practically every forum goer would shout out "laaaaaaaaame".

Never tried Garry's mod but i'm intriqued by the idea behind it. whats it like to use? A lot of people seem to think it's difficult. Is this the case?

It takes alot of getting used to. Especially now I imagine, judging by the wealth of tools. But it will soon be second nature.

I found it extremely easy to use, goddamnit man just install it and try it out!! It's awesome.

Its incredibly hard to build a catapault that functions solely on physics in regular half life 2, or a flying machine that shoots watermelons. Thats why garrys mod is fun.
