Has anyone else noticed that there is atleast one character in every Valve game that wears a gaskmask?

Half-Life: Grunts
Half-Life 2: Civil Protection, Combine Soildier, Combine Elite (Sorta).
Counter Strike/Counter-Strike:Source: S.A.S unit.
Team Fortress/Team Fortress 2: The Pyro

Any I am missing?
 
No gasmasks in Portal.
No gasmasks in Ricochet.

How does that make sense? You've already pointed out that there are gas mask wearing characters in Half Life 2. Also you're wrong.

Gas masks make characters impersonal and non-human, which is perfect for the Combine. Plus, it saves on models and facial animations.
 
I'm just saying that Valve has alot of characters with gaskmasks on thats it. And why does The Pyro and the S.A.S. unit need to look non-human? I think you forgot the whole purpose of a gask mask other than visuals. Although Valve does have alot of games where you would be in a situation where you would need a gask-mask exept Portal and Richochet of course.

Obviously the Counter Strike character and the Pyro don't need to look inhuman. They have gas masks because one of them is a counter terrorism unit, and the other carries a flamethrower and is wearing a flame retardant suit.

What I want to know is where the hell the flashlight comes from in both of the Half-Life's, you never pick one up, and the HEV doesn't have a built in flashlight.
 
Same place as the health kits and batteries go.
Same place as the HUD is projected from.

Obviously the suit has a flashlight, it's simply not shown on the suit in Kleiner's office.
