Geek Get Togethers near Washington?

ah, man, you have to get drunk at least once, for the experience.

Grade school is where the cool kids get shitfaced. And I get a priapism every time I walk through a kindergarten.

lmfao, sigged :D

Anyway, you wouldn't think so, but I too am terribly introverted. The difference is, I'm also strong-willed enough to scream at myself until I do something. Hence, I get ass like a toilet.

Unlike a toilet, however, I don't get pooped in :P

The thing is, I don't get out much, hence I asked if there where any conventions where I could meet people that share the same interests as me.

But then everyone laughs at me.

:(

If you don't get drunk in highschool.. Then when? I could have sworn that's all high school was good for.

Heehee, yes they do. That's why they're great :E

Anyway, what I've discovered throughout the years is that you really don't have to share common interests with people. I mean, personally, I'm interested in games, good books, politics, and skateboarding. Around here, nobody reads, nobody skates, nobody keeps up with the news, and barely anybody games. But do I let that stop me? Hell no.

what are you supposed to do with people who you share no interests with ? D: (other than hang out)

He's right though. I don't know a single person who plays video games.

Go find people that play games. Not just computer games... any games! Board games! One of my coworkers apparently plays board games with a group in this game shop every Friday night, so I went along because I'm usually bored out of my mind. It was probably one of the dorkiest things ever, and yet, slightly entertaining. They might have stuff like that around your area but I guess it'd be pretty hard to find unless you happen to know people that like that kind of stuff. Maybe do an internet search or something? I have no idea what you would search for though, seeing as "people who get together to play games" is kind of vague.

Also, I think I know way too many people that play video games. I'll be sitting to eat lunch and the people behind me will be talking about games, and I'll take a walk down the hall and people are talking about games, and there's this one guy I know who was obsessed with Guitar Hero, and once.. I got someone addicted to HL2. One night I was eating dinner in the university dining hall and he kinda whispers, "I think I'm addicted to HL2," and then his roommate claims that he plays Counter-Strike late at night so he'll be sleeping and keep waking up hearing "Counter-Terrorists Win!" I don't know how I end up around these people..... I'm not even at some kind of dorky math/science school either. It's weird!
