The GeForce 9800 GX2 will launch in late February or early March as it now stands and will replace the 8800 Ultra (single GPU) card in NVIDIA's high-end product line up. The 9800 GX2 is said to be at least 30% faster than a 8800 Ultra. While it is not clear from the pictures below, we are told it will support "Quad SLI."

Wow...it actually looks like a brick. But a brick which could make your computer explode. :D

Hmm... similar design to the 7950 GX2. Can't say I like that news. Single PCB tends to work a lot better than double. It's also a lot harder to cool a card designed that way.

I couldn't care if it looks like a huge, ugly brick. I don't ever remember looking at my graphics card to admire it's beauty.

30%?! WTF is up with the videocard industry lately. In fall 2006 the 8800GTX appeared and 18 months later we get about 40% more performance for an even higher price still. I know these are still rumours, but this really better be false.

Getting it. Don't care how, getting it. my 7950s are sooooo old, and this is awesome.

I won't be getting this.

I will, however, be taking advantage of the price drops on the other cards.

:D

Nvidia - Ripping off air conditioner grills and slapping them on video cards.

It makes them *cooler*.

Yeah, waiting through the dx10 craze for better graphics cards payed off! :D

agreed

Hmm. I don't know, depends on how much it retails for, and I'm guessing it's going to be in the $700 range. One way or the other, I'm starting to feel the need to update my 7950GT, even though I only got it slightly over a year ago. It owned Battlefield 2 on high, but I have to set most stuff in Crysis to low to have a decent multiplayer experience.

On the other hand, though, the effects of a black brick on my PSU are worrisome.

I only just managed to fit my 8800 into my case, how the hell am supposed to fit this thing in?

Yeah, my 8800 barely fit in my case as well. Apparently you now need a full ATX size case just so you can physically fit a high performing card in without getting crowded.

Yeah, seriously. I had to clip some of the plastic off of my ATA cables because the card is practically rubbing against my hard drives.

And people wonder why I suggest full-tower with these cards.

It looks like VIVO is completely out. It was rare if nonexistent in the 8800 series of cards, and this certainly doesn't have it.

with the rush of new cards, i got my 8600gt for only $80 USD

The only reason im excited about this news is because of the price drop in the 8800GT. Couldnt give a s* about this brick :/
