The added ram actually has very little to do with FPS. And the Pro would definitley be the better choice, believe it or not.

And is your 256MB DDR?


I just got my 9600 Pro 128MB running with my PC3200 256MB DDr ram and its beautiful.

I'd go for the 9600pro because it's faster. The speed of both the core and memory of the pro are clocked higher. We don't know yet if extra vidmemory will ever make up the speed difference between them, so go with the safer choice.

The other thing I'd do is boost main system memory to at least 512 megs.

Wow, for $10 bucks you can get the 9600 Pro! Do it, because think of it this way...You can overclock it to be as good as a Radeon 9700 Pro! So why wait?!
