GeForce FX and Half-Life 2: DirectX 8 only?

nVIDIA did not remove dx9 from the drivers on their graphics cards... They ADDED dx9 support for GeForce FX 5600 though...

I know because I have a GeForce FX 5200 (which supports dx9.0, and not too slow because I don't have many problems playing Joint Operations. Though it's not a very demanding game it can get REALLY laggy when there are 100+ people on a server yet my card pulls through with about 15+ fps in rough situations and with high detail.)

will a GF4 mx440 with a 1.6ghz athlon processor computer suck?(512 mb ram) me is worried

Yes, the MX440 will run the game, but without DX8/9 shader and vertex effectes, as it's a DX7 card.

I think Nvidia should do someting about it NOW not when HL2 comes out they should speak to valve and do more because most models could run the game in DX9.
