Ok, I have this mp3 that I want to be played 4 times simultaneously, so how do I go about arranging that? If I click on the play button one by one it'll be out of sync.

on the same pc??????

?????????????WTF??????

Think about it. If you got them all PERFECTLY in time, you wouldn't be able to tell that more than 1 was playing anyway. Are you just bored or something?

Nope
6char.

....Assuming you are playing the same track of course. If not that is a pretty crappy way of mixing stuff together.

Of course, if you want some actual help, try posting what you are ACTUALLY trying to do, and why.

Something like 'MixMeister' will allow you to mix and modify speeds/pitch/etc for mp3s and other files.

Many common audio editors such as Audacity will let you do something similar as well.

Seriously... just open one mp3 in Audacity, use Project -> Import Audio to add the rest, and press play.

There's a link in the post above yours.

I have an mp3 that's supposed to be played on four different speakers simultaneously, come to think of it, I'm not sure the same effect can be achieved by playing the same mp3 four times, but hey, it's worth a try.

No, it can't be achieved by playing the same mp3 four times, because like I said, and common knowledge says, if you get it perfectly in sync, you wont be able to tell that more than 1 cpoy is playing. Now that you have finally revealed what you are trying to do, some actual advice can be given.

Firstly, the 4 discs seem to have a different version of (well, I'm not quite sure what is on them- apparently animal sounds- I didn't bother to listen to them) the same, umm, song. They seem to be trying to create a wierd "surround sound" effect, by having slightly different stuff coming at you from 4 different sides, by using 4 different sound systems. This seems really dumb, but whatever. Haven't they heard of 5.1 surround? That woud create the exact same effect.

Anyway- you are NOT trying to play the SAME track 4 times at once. As I suspected, only an idiot would try that. You are trying to play 4 slightly DIFFERENT tracks at the same time. Some hardware / sofware configurations will allow that. You'll figure it out.

Who cares why he wants to do it? If it was as easy as pressing a button, would you still have given him crap about it? (Don't answer that :) ) I'm not much of an audiophile, but I used to make creepy soundtracks for halloween out of sound bytes from video games (Alien v. Predator II, Quake II, etc.), and I had a (free) sound mixer that would mix and play four tracks together. Maybe that'd work?

Once you get it set up, bring it to my place so I can hear it too!

No, you need 4 CD players for this to work :p

He couldn't rip the four tracks he wants to play and play them together in the mixer? What's he up to?

Basically the 4 CDs played simultaniously makes a soundscape.. supposedly 4-D

The same effect cannot be achieved with surround sound.

Using Winamp, I can get four tracks to start within about 1/2 a second of each other. Would that be any use?

No, it's supposed to be 4 separate sound systems... otherwise it just doesn't work

(apparently :p )

I see... Well thanks for the help anyway.

So...the first, second, third tracks on each CD work simultaneously to create a unique sound that isn't crap? I'm intruiged.

Whoever made this CD were idiots, I'm sorry. Who the **** wants to go to the trouble of doing that? And why can't surround sound do it? You're telling us that it's playing a track on ONE speaker, thus 4 tracks = 4 speakers. That means that you can channel them using surround sound and achieve the same effect. They are also stupid in the fact that you can do two tracks, and just make each track have the two "songs", one coming out the left and one out the right.

I don't get it. :| They are probably doing some holophonic effect that could easily be achieved with the right software and could do all the same things on HEADPHONES. Trust me, I've listened to the demo of holophonic sound and it works like a dream.

It's not four speakers. From what I can gather, it uses regular CD audio so each one probably has two channels. Four of them would then make 8 channels of audio. Still, why not release it on a better format supporting many channels and make it support a home theater system instead of the highly unlikely set-up of 4 CD players that are all synchronized? It seems like a stupid stunt. They just do it because they can, not necessarily because it's the best way to do it.
