I was just pumped because I'm going to pick up a tippmann custom 98 marker tomorrow. Just happy that I don't got to rent one anymore. The real reason I started this thread was to see what people think of the particular marker. I've heard nothing but good reviews but I would like to see some more opinions just in case.

Very constructive guys :D

I liked paintball LOADS when I first played but never got around to buying one - but because I'm a total realisim freak I started airsoft (BB guns)

I've been playing airsoft for about a year now - and can't stop buying guns! :D

ICS M4A1 Carbine - Red Dot - Tac Light
TM VSR-10 G-Spec - 4x32 Scope
ICS MP5 SD6
HFC M9 M190 Beretta

What sort of price are you for a Paintball gun these days? (About £200 for airsoft) - You got a link for the one your buying?

I like airsoft alot but paintball still interests me :)

Meh, Most people start with tippman 98's because they are a great first gun. You hardly ever need to clean them and they are very durable. If your a n00bler paintball0r then I suggest you get it. If you are pretty skilled you may want to step up a notch to an eletric trigger.

the first gun that i got was the sting ray 2 ice.

i decided that i needed a better gun to play with so i got the money and got a
spyder. i was going to the tippman 98 custom (because of all the attachments that you can put on it, mainly the sniper one) but i went with the spyder instead.

love the tippman and since you have played with it and everything that will be a good gun for you

I've never used one, but if you just want to play woodland they're supposed to be great :) practically indestructible apparently

all I play is outdoor :D

Isn't it far too easy to cheat with Airsoft Viper? I mean, you just don't tell anyone you've been hit. I'd love to do Airsoft though, cause I love the guns, problem is, its a damn expensive hobby.

Im buying it from a paintball wholesaler that rents out guns and stuff to the field I go to. It costed $250 Canadian for a full set up but the price is alot higher here because paintballing isn't well established on the west coast of canada.

overated imo, my pirahnna destroys my friends tippman 98 custom. Oh well...have fun

I would say to get it to look customized somehow (EG repaint it, get crazy engravings of dragons on it or your CO2 tank, put a mad silencer) because many people wont be able to tell the diff between your personal marker and a rental one. All the paintball arenas here use the 98 custom for their rentals.

You may not care, but just a heads up. Some asshole might start noobing you out because your gun looks like a rental (I know some paintballing kids like that).

On a side note, did you know that Paintball guns are called markers because cattle owners would shoot their cattle with custom colors to "mark" them, and hikers and woodsmen would "mark" trees to make a path, so not to get lost.

sinkoman, they're also called markers because, the tournament paintball scene at least, wants to get rid of anything likening us to soldiers and war. We 'mark' our opponents with paint using a marker and eliminate them, not kill them. It gives the sport a better image saying that, rather than 'I shot and killed 3 people with my new gun today!' :p
